Re: how to boot a mint iso from hdd instead of a usb device

You don't need any special installation just for booting the live Mint .iso You can use Grub to boot .iso files from your USB drive or a hard drive. Boot a Mint .iso From Your Hard Drive Using Grub2 - with no DVD or USB You can use Rescatux/SuperGrub2 to boot .iso files from a USB drive or hard dri...

Re: hello goofy looking penguin's

Hi lmintnewb2, sound's like you need a bigger keyboard, hop around on it like a kangaroo  Dratz, how did you know, I'm a kangaroo... :) Hopping is more tiring then you think, though. I've found the best way to do it is to try and keep a beat--it takes my furry little mind off the hard work of ...

Re: BleachBit and "Free disk space" ...

Strange; apparently e4defrag is indeed present by default in Mint. Anyway, I strongly advise not to risk your files and to limit yourself to *preventing* fragmentation. maybe encrypting/decrypting file's on a EXT4 file-system would cause potential fragmentation? I sure wish someone would po...

Re: hello goofy looking penguin's

Welcome aboard . . . . . . . . . . . I also gave up on XP a few years back now and started fiddling with Mint amongst many others, finally settling for Mint 17.3 Cin on my desktop, then a couple of laptops running LMDE2 and Mint 17 MATE, I have used and do like XFCE but I'm swayed by MATE th...

Re: BleachBit and "Free disk space" ...

for wiping free space you realy dont need any software, just right click copy and past a LARGE file multiple time's unill you filled up your partition then delete all copies, that will wipe deleted files to prevent recovery, not perfect, and slow, but it should be good enough  and for cleani...
