Re: LM 17 Update Manager red X

I've been having the same error. Failed to fetch http://archive.removed/ubuntu/dists/trusty-removed/apps/binary-amd64/Packages 403 Forbidden I finally went to Software Sources and disabled the removed repository and the error no longer occurs. I couldn't find anything on the removed website that int...

Re: Firefox won't update

I just update Firefox when it shows up in the Update Manager. Every 2 weeks I think. I have the most current supported official release according to Wikipedia: 63.0.3

Edit: I have Firefox 63.0.3 on both Linux Mint 17.3 and 19.

Really enjoying KDE Neon and Plasma 5!

Never imagined KDE being this nice! :D
I agree. The latest KDE is much better than what I saw back in 2015.

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2018

Another great desktop from trytip.

I began deleting the folders off my desktop. The Home folder is already a tray icon at the bottom left.

Keep showing us more.

Re: Unceremoniously kicked out to login screen

If you're using more than one drive then the most simple way to install is not to require a password upon boot. Then when you get eveything working, and you want to require a password, then you can do that. If you're using Win 10, I would suggest it be on its own hdd/sdd. If Win 10 is on a shared dr...

Re: Mint 19 or LMDE 3

Thanks for all the replies. I'm experimenting with both right now. My pc was made in 2008. 1.8 Ghz dual-core with 4 Gig Ram. Just hoping to get another few years from it. So far so good. Not a gamer, so that's a plus. Just web surfing, play YouTube vidoes from time to time. Check email with Thunderb...

Mint 19 or LMDE 3

I'm using Mint 17.3 Cinnamon, but support ends in April 2019.

For those that have tried both Mint 19 and LMDE 3, which one do you prefer.

Thanks xenopeek. Perhaps the old keys were causing confusion with the updater.

Re: latest Opera can't be authenticated

I do have that key from 2017.

I also have Opera keys from 2013 and 2015. Would it be a good idea to remove the old keys?

[SOLVED] latest Opera can't be authenticated

I've been using Opera web browser, version 56.0.3051.52

Update Manager is now offering version 56.0.3051.99

Not sure if I want to download something that's not authenticated.

Here is what pops up before downloading:

Re: No video in LiveCD mode?

All of those sites you mention in previous posts all work in the full installation of Mint with Firefox, Chromium ect...

I chose Mint because of the Cinnamon desktop. I don't think you can get that on MX. To each their own.

Re: Windows /linux on two drives to one?

The problem is it doesn't tell you if it's update or upgrade. You'll figure it out though if it's still downloading after 15 minutes. Too late then...

Re: Windows /linux on two drives to one?

Win 10 update shouldn't affect your boot menu, but an upgrade, which might happen every 3 months or so, and you will lose your Linux boot option.

You should keep Win 10 and Linux on seperate hard drives.

I dumped Win 10 almost 3 years ago because of the upgrade factor.

Re: 10 Reasons to Replace Windows with Linux

Reason 11: Microsoft fanboys create their own website, with catchy URL like Windows11Updates, replete with "wish lists". Virtual Reality? Sure, microsoft can do that (we think). Nevermind that the official stance is 10 will be the last version for the foreseeable future. That's just a "marketing gim...
