Re: How to get rid of the microphone icon at bottom right?

To reset the panel of the Mate system, copy/paste the following into the Terminal:

Code: Select all

gsettings reset-recursively org.mate.panel
Umm, you have not installed an audio recorder on your system have you?

Re: system settings menu

. I'm attaching an image of what I have now, after re-installing cinnamon-settings. https://i.imgur.com/gfCnQBl.png That is KDE System Settings not the System Settings Menu. The KDE System Settings does work with 19 Cinnamon as I just opened it. I am sure this is not what you are looking for howeve...

Re: system settings menu

In the Menu, type in System settings. You should see KDE System Settings and System Settings. Select System Settings.

If you do not see System Settings then it may not be checked in the Menu Editor.

Do you see the System Settings selection?

Re: MBM2 Mint Box Mini

I can get a mini pc with statistics like the Mint box Mini Pro for $250 but only a three year warranty. Completely silent and passively cooled? It's a real pleasure to not have these things make noise when sitting in living room or working in quiet home office. That particular one has a fan but I h...

Re: system settings menu

Jim, that is the KDE System Settings which is in the Software Manager, it is not the System Settings menu. It is unclear to me why you want this rather than the Cinnamon version. I really doubt that it is compatible with Cinnamon.

Re: MBM2 Mint Box Mini

I think they are somewhat overpriced ($299/$349) considering it has the minimum CPU (Celeron). However; as you say, it does have the os pre-loaded which is worth a lot for some people. The 5 year warranty is the real value here. I have several similar units from other mfg. and have sent two back for...

Re: Icons Issue

I tried to duplicate that. I copied a custom colored file folder and pasted it to a USB. I then copied it from the USB and pasted it into Documents. It is still in color.

I am using 19beta Cinnamon

Re: Icons Issue

You might try a custom icon set which has interesting file folders. Custom colors can still be assigned but I am unsure if that disappears on download. Still, if you are interested in spiffing up the folders this would do that. I have a favorite set if you want the link just ask. :)

Re: Mouse stuttering and lagging <SOLVED>

Congratulations, especially having solved it yourself. That is an excellent troubleshooting technique you used, Unplugging stuff till it works. Hey, plug that stuff back in and I would bet that the mouse will be fine after the reset. I think starting in compatibility mode and unplugging stuff is a s...

Re: Mouse stuttering and lagging

First, make sure the transmitter is not to far away and is not hidden on the back of your computer. then put some fresh batteries in the mouse. This is very basic and you have probably done this already but thought I would mention it. EDIT: Simply changing usb ports has helped some folks with these ...

Re: How to get rid of the microphone icon at bottom right?

A last resort if no solution is found would be to reset the panel. An other alternative is to wait till you change to 19.

Would be nice to find out what that microphone icon is so you can dismiss it properly. :)

Re: Mint 19 Question

I've always updated everything since I started using Mint and have never had an issue once ( not true on beta versions, hey its a beta!! :D ) I have loaded all updates offrered in 19beta Cinnamon with no problems. :) And 19beta seems to work as good as 18.3 but then I have a very simple setup. I kn...

Re: How to Format Read Only USB Drive

I was using the USB Stick Formatter not GParted. I went to GParted and art first did not see the drive just my main drive but it was on the drop down so I did as you (trytip) suggested. However, after the format I can no longer see the drive in GParted and the drive is no longer recognized in Mint. ...
