Problems with WiFi dropping out - just remarking, not asking for help

I bought a new LTE wireless router a few weeks ago. at first, I thought it was the Cat's Meow as it was steadily giving us downloads in the 10-30Mbps range, even with a very 'poor' signal strength.... represented as '1' bar on the idiot lights. During my intial testing, I was using my Desktop PC on ...

Re: A Very Strange Dream...

my dreams seem to be triggered by material in the books that I have been reading. really deep detective stories, I had to back off of, as they reminded me of an ex-son-in-law who ripped me off big time, and I prosecuted him and sent him to prison..... weird dreams that were really screwed up while r...

Fridge is set for 44*F and the fridge side is at 26*F and all of the liquid products are frozen solid. some research, and I ordered up all of the Temperature control sensors per a forum I found on the issue... sigh... your fridge/freezer is caked with solid ice. only a defrost and dry will fi...

Does it show up in the menu?

if so, right click > Uninstall
It's not so simple.

Re: Kernel updates - a gentle moan!

about 2-1/2 years ago, I loaned my sister ( 1500 miles far away ) my Dell laptop which has 18.3 Cinnamon on it. as I was brand new with Mint again.... tried it 4 or 5 years ago, and gave up :( could not run the Win Apps that I had to have, and used every day. So.... decision, let it update automatic...

Re: Corona virus (COVID-19)

I made a trip outside the house today, went to the local Rural Feed Store to buy some feed for the dogs, and Sunflower seeds for the dogs. Dropped $128 bux  no one hugged, we never did anyway :? normal conversation, just a "How do you do" and the warehouse guy carried my order to the car. so, s...

Re: Cinnamon is too gluttonous

I have a new, very fast computer, and decent ISP link. some websites just are too slow to display stuff. I only use the Cinnamon desktop, and have for the last 3 versions of Linux Mint. it runs very well, even on a 15 year old Acer 5253 with only 2gB RAM and 19.3 Cinnamon.. That Acer 5253 laptop, cr...

Re: How is a website detecting my previous visits with....

I think all of this is way over reacting. I have tried the alternate search engines, and I go back to Google as default, every time. my personal info is already on the web... what I can do, is restrict tracking, and I am using NoTrace to help with that. I also have the cookies disappear when the web...

Re: How is a website detecting my previous visits with....

I guess you've forgotten that, by default , Google isn't even included as an available search engine. Has to be added manually by the user. THIS IS NOT CORRECT. As a matter of fact Google IS the standard search engine when installing FF! You need to manually delete it! Use startpage, duckduckgo or ...

Re: System destroyed by UPS app! Need help asap!

Thank you all for replying. @trytip: If Timeshift had any sound logic to it I would've used it, but since it did some stupid things in the past almost leaving me with zero free space I have uninstalled it long ago so it is not an option. Not that it would matter for the issue at hand but in my over...

Behind the scenes, before that kernel gets to you

Re: Living in the Rural Outback and LTE modems

I am moving to a rural location in the near future and the only internet access will be using an AT&T compatible LTE modem. My nephew says he plays online games no problem. I didn't ask which games, I'm thinking Overwatch style. I know that I won't be buying any software online, hard copies only. Y...

Re: After using Facebook for 10 years I finally deleted my account

I wish I could delete my account. Most of my family and friends are so ingrained in the system, they will never leave. I too stopped posting and only communicate with them using messenger, SMS and voice calls. I got sick of "friends" sending requests/invitations to thing that were obviously fake, o...

Re: After using Facebook for 10 years I finally deleted my account

I use faceache to keep track of friends and family all over the world. Rarely do I post identifying info, though. Same here; I am a member of a few motorcycle forums, and have made friends over the past two decades riding on 2 wheels. then farcebook came along, and Smartphones became the thing, and...
