Firefox: creating New Folder for Bookmarks.... How to Type in the name you want [solved]

this has been occurring over the last few updates to Firefox, today, it finally pissed me off enough to try to go to Mozilla Community and find out what is wrong. lost cause, I can't even get to a place to make a complaint. Scenario: control-D to create Bookmark mouse down to find the right folder i...

Re: I am becoming a believer!

I've also kept W10 on my laptop. Handy here in the USA for things like doing taxes. Other than that it has become a dust collector. Just be aware that when the time to use it does come around you'll need to wait while the ultra slow updates run. Grass grows faster! ummmmm, you can shut off update b...

Re: SMS on laptop

I look at Signal like I do with "WhatsApp" and other peculiar high security apps. none of them are worth a damn for everyday use. if the caller/callee does not have that app, you revert back to an open call/sms. I have tried several of those apps with friends who are PARANOID to the N'th degree. I g...

just Curious - Printer Icon indicates loss of network

my laptop with 19.3 Cinnamon does something that I have NOT noticed before with any version of Mint. Was I asleep all these years, or what? When the laptop's lid is closed, it shuts down the network among other things. I have all of the Power features set to "NEVER" so suspend, hibernate, sleep are ...

I use Textra on my phone, the Text size can be made larger. in fact, I make the phone's system Text sizes larger on my phones, have for several years, and phone models. all of them were Samsung phones though. S5, Note4, Note8. here is an example of the text size on Textra, at least for my purpose. S...

Re: Google going to ban cookies one day

soon they say, like in about 2 years. just to see how that will effect things, I went into Preferences and set FF to erase all Cookies every time it closes. if it were not for LastPass, I would be lost and not able to login into my favorite forums. it is a major PITA. Your missing some words in you...

Re: Linux Phones

I don't think Linux phones will make it to prime time, unless they can use the Android apps that most of us "think we need". as for the caller being able to lock your phone on a simple phone call? I have a lot of trouble believing that..... If the caller is not in my Contact List, and I do not recog...

Re: [SOLVED] Did I just delete all my data on a drive by using Timeshift?

glad you got it resolved.

In my case, the extHDD is always connected "before" Timeshift is activated.
and that extHDD is encoded in FSTAB so I never see the situation that you explained.

Re: Did I just delete all my data on a drive by using Timeshift?

Timeshift creates a Folder at the root of what ever partition that you gave it access to. it backs up the OS or system files, not the data or /home files. I have never known it to overwrite and delete existing files. I suspect that you will find it at a location like this. Please note this is for my...

Re: Lifetime Windows user.. damned if I'm gonna use Windows 10!

I have an original, Licensed 5 user CD for Windows 7 Professional. Over the years, I have used it maybe twice, and never licensed it to M$... out of the blue, a while back, I tried to restore Win7 on an old PC, OFF the Internet mind you. and it refused to accept the printed License # that is on the ...

I have added this to my Menu under Internet WiFi Toggle Off/On wifi.png /home/john/bin/WiFi_Reset wifi properties.png So, looking at the above in Reverse; create the file WiFi reset and place it in .bin and point your menu to where you placed that file. . that file contains this code #!/bin/bash rfk...
