Re: Cell Phone Compatibility?

Thank you for the replies. I intend to go look see about an Android. Verizon offers a wonderful little Palm phone now but the reviews say the battery life sucks or I'd think about one of those.

Android definitely sounds like the hot ticket. Thanks for that.

Linux got me out from under Windows. Now Android can get me out from under Apple. :D

Cell Phone Compatibility?

I'm not sure where to post this but I'll give this board a try. If it's in the wrong one, let me know and I'll post there or maybe the moderators can move this there. Anyway. I need a new cell phone. My old iphone 4S is OK but the old OS is ready to die and can't be upgraded. My wife's new iphone 7 ...

Re: opera does not play html5 video in lmde 3.

Sorry forgot to add that you would need to make the script executable first. Right-click on the script you have downloaded (it should be in your home directory) and choose "properties". Under "Permissions" tab, check the box "Allow this file to run as a program". Now open a terminal and run the com...

Re: opera does not play html5 video in lmde 3.

In $HOME/local, there is no .lib folder. When I run the script I get this: rg@rg-G75VW ~ $ wget https://gist.githubusercontent.com/ruario/bec42d156d30affef655/raw/53bb6a1fd298d114355453f6f19ae188c22e2e9c/latest-proprietary-media.sh --2019-01-10 15:45:37-- https://gist.githubusercontent.com/ruario/be...

Re: opera does not play html5 video in lmde 3.

I am using Opera 57.0.3098.106 and have the same issue. It is a libffmpeg.so problem. Download latest libffmpeg.so via latest-proprietary-media.sh script. wget https://gist.githubusercontent.com/ruario/bec42d156d30affef655/raw/53bb6a1fd298d114355453f6f19ae188c22e2e9c/latest-proprietary-media.sh Run ...

Re: FreeCAD For Machinery and Shop Equipment [SOLVED]

I've been fiddling with FreeCAD but I haven't found any instructions or decent tutorials so it's all hit or miss. So far, I can draw lines by dragging with a mouse from point A to point B but not make ones a particular length. Other than counting grid squares, I don't even know how long they are be...

Re: FreeCAD For Machinery and Shop Equipment [SOLVED]

Thanks for the additional help, here. I'm still going over various options offered already. What have you been using? This might give us a clue as to the most appropriate tool for the job. I've been a fan of SketchUp for windwoes and have yet to find a decent alternative in Linux. Freecad seems ok f...

Re: FreeCAD For Machinery and Shop Equipment

Thanks for the reply, Xenopeek. Good to know FreeCAD iosn't a CAD program. That helps a lot. The LinuxCNC will be useful in the future when I get a CNC machine going. The list of CAD programs is really useful. I'll check all of those they list to see which is most suitable for my needs. Many thanks....
