FreeCAD For Machinery and Shop Equipment [SOLVED]

I need a good CAD program that will work in Linux Mint 18.3 64-bit. This will be used for drawings and blueprints for machinery and other items from angle iron, square tubing and sheet metal. Also it will be needed for wooden assemblies like a workbench or other items made from 2x4 or 2x6 framing an...

Re: Low Disk Space on "filesystem.root"

Thanks, Pjotr. That did the trick. Just cleaning the cache and removing Asian fonts was enough to not get the pop-up. I still went ahead and removed 24 of the redundant kernels, leaving 2 plus the active one. I can see I'll have to do the same with my main installation, too.

Many thanks for the help.

Low Disk Space on "filesystem.root" [SOLVED]

On one installation of Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit, This message keeps popping up. https://i.imgur.com/LMitG2Q.png This message started popping up after some updates I did a few weeks ago. I use this installation to try things so I don't trash my main one, which I need to work properly. Emptying...

Re: Get iphone 7 Plus Photos Into Cinnamon 18.1

Just a quick update here. I installed Feem v4 on both and promptly transferred a photo from the laptop to the iphone. Slick as can be. I expect the same from the phone to the laptop. I haven't a clue how to get a photo from the iphone photo folder(s) into the chat window in Feem but it's my wife's p...

Well, then thanks for finding what I didn't. It's nice to have everything working again. I'll include that driver in my future installations of Mint.

Re: Printer Stopped Working in Cinnamon 18.3

Everything works, now. I installed the Canon driver. That must be new. They didn't support Linux when I got the printer a year ago. That's why I got TurboPrint. I just tested it on a file that wouldn't print properly a year ago and it did fine. I suspect that clearing the stuck print job may have he...

That worked great. I see there were several versions of 4.15.xx so I just removed the latest one. It boots fine, now.

Thanks for the help on this.

Boots Poorly After Updates [SOLVED]

I just did all the updates for both my installations of Cinnamon Mint 18.3 on this computer (ASUS G75V) and everything is great. I then started my backup computer (Toshiba Sattelite A665) and did all the updates for that. On the backup computer, Cinnamon 18.3 boots, fails and starts in 'Fallback Mod...

Re: Get iphone 7 Plus Photos Into Cinnamon 18.1

Thanks for the great help, phd21. I'm going to install Mint 19 on one computer then follow your instructions with that to see how it works. I tried Mint 19 Cinnamon on the test computer and it didn't work well. I'll try xfce or Mate on that one. Once I have it working, I'll know what I'm doing and c...

Re: Get iphone 7 Plus Photos Into Cinnamon 18.1

Hi all, I had the same issue and looked into the imobiledevice (http://www.libimobiledevice.org/ ) solution that was mentioned. Sadly after finding it in the software manager and installing it, I still could not access the files using the file browser. When I logged out of my session and logged bac...

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”

Being new to Mint I was just wondering if Mint 18.3 will be updated to Mint 19 through Update Manager or will Mint 19 require a fresh download and install, or could an 18.3 system be upgraded to 19 through the CLI using sudo apt-get etc, etc. There'll probably be an upgrade option in Update Manager...

Read this.
The developers do a spectacular job and this is one example of that. I absolutely love Cinnamon and to know it's getting even better really gives me something to look forward to in Mint 19. Many, many thanks!

Re: Impress Runs Poorly in Mint 18.,3

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, this computer is a fine one. I don't even have a desktop computer any more. I know that an SSD would help but since both drives have an installation of Mint on them, I have to be satisfied with the SSHD hybrid drive. That alone sped things up. Hope this helps ... Hec...

Impress Runs Poorly in Mint 18.,3 [SOLVED]

I do presentations generated in LibreOffice Impress. I can make them and work with them just fine but playback is unacceptable in Mint 18.3. In Mint 17.3 it was great. When I upgraded, I found that I can no longer give good presentations with it. When I change slides, the screen flashes completely w...

Re: Grub After Update

OK, all I had to do was re-order the boot sequence in the bios to read the primary drive first. Everything works fine. It surprises me that the upgrade reordered that. I guess it read the second drive as though it was the main one. Hmmm..... well, the solution is all that matters here.
