Organize File System Defaults [SOLVED]

So, now I have a dual boot with 18.1 Cinnamon on one drive (sda) and 18.2 Cinnamon on a second (sdb). I'm finding that I use the data partition I created on sdb for all my files. That leaves 'Documents', 'Music', 'Pictures', 'Videos' and 'Downlloads' totally unused, other than being the defaults whi...

That's because you must unmount the partition before you can do anything else to it.
Thanks, I'll do that.

2 MIN LATER: Yep, that did the trick. Operation successful. Many thanks.

How To Format Partition? [SOLVED]

I have two installations of Linux Mint on this computer. I installed one (18.1, soon to get updated to 18.2) on a 250GB SSD and one (18.2 fresh install) on a 1TB SSHD. The SSHD has a 350 GB partition (sdb3) for data storage to be shared by both installations. There is also another larger partition (...

Re: Partition Accessibility

Thanks, WharfRat. That did the trick. I appreciate your help on this. I used the name of the label on the sdb3 partition. Am I correct in assuming the label on any partition could be substituted and consequently mounted that way? Although I usually use the device designation or UUID, it can be moun...

Create a mount point in /meda and mount it there rather than the default used by udev/udisks
Thanks for the reply. Obviously I didn't do this because I don't understand anything you said. How do I create the mount point?

Re: Where Do I Give Feedback? [SOLVED]

pdc_2, I downloaded and installed the trial version of TurboPrint. It works fine. Thanks for the suggestion. I have an email in to them to see if one purchase will cover all my Linux installations. I'm also going to contact Canon about this since obviously the issue is the driver/OS compatibility. m...

Re: Where Do I Give Feedback? [SOLVED]

pdc_2, thanks for the suggestions. I actually have been working in in Mint 18.1 I really haven't tried it in 18.2 but do have that as a boot option and try printing in that version in case it's something that has been corrected. The new file I made in LiberOffice was in 18.1 so I suspect that a diff...

The driver is a printer driver downloaded from the Canon website and installed as instructed for Linux. Specifically, it's for a Canon Pixma iX6820.

Where Do I Give Feedback? [SOLVED]

I have a driver that worked flawlessly in Mint 17.3 but has an issue in 18.1. I do have the latest driver so that's not the problem. Where do I give feedback so that could be corrected in future releases?

Thanks, RG

Re: Data Partition Management

#1. You cannot. This gets used by the file system in case of errors in the file system. That makes it easy: don't concern myself with it. I notice that it doesn't show when I uncheck "show hidden files". Thanks for that. #2: In the context menu of the partition use the command "Label". This can onl...
