Re: Panel not working - new installation Isadora

Problem Solved. I couldn't find how to re-install task manager by googling, and it wasn't to be found in Synaptic, so i did a complete re-install of Isadora Linux Mint 9 (third time in one day) and this time reformatted my home drive too, which had Linux Mint 7 files, databases, videos, text files e...

Re: Panel not working - new installation Isadora

hi chipps61 thanks for your reply - i added the menu etc but i can't as yet find how to relaunch diminished applications - there is no taskbar or task manager to be found - it's not applications launcher, because that fills up the panel with an icon and menu for every type of application in order to...

Panel not working - new installation Isadora

Hello First impressions count and I think Linux Mint may have lost many newbies if they experience the same difficulties as I had installing Linux Mint 9. I downloaded the Main O/S (Isadora Main Gnome 32_bit), checked the MD5sum, burnt to disk at slow speed, and then checked the MD5sum of the instal...

Re: How do I mount a camera?

Hello
I had the same problem but with a Kodak camera until I installed gThumb Image Viewer from Package Manager (Synaptic) ... I copy photos to my hard drive and also I can delete photos from the camera's memory card with it.

It may not work with your camera but it's worth a try.

Re: Install_English_Menus_(non US) SOLVED

Hello emorrp1 Though I don't like to feel tied to one search engine, and often use Clusty or CometQuery or Ask Jeeves rather than Google, I did try to get a my_name@gmail address (like gee@gmail.com) and I went through the process of creating an account through Google at http://www.google.co.uk/. Wh...

Re: Install_English_Menus_(non US)

This is a marvel! Many thanks, emorrp1, for putting in that work. It's a small change for Linux Mint but a huge step for the UK. Incident at Mint Forum 17 June 2009: I wait 8 years, gloomily letting the pressure build up inside, longing to see my own language on computers in my country, and then I m...

Install_English_Menus_(non US) SOLVED

Hello US English is a rich language but being born and bred in England, I should like my menus to be in British English. I suppose people from Australia, India, Ireland, the Philippines and other countries would prefer to use their natural spelling and syntax too. The words "Center" and &q...

Re: old topic, no answer, same problem

That's interesting, thanks for the info. It's necessary for someone at LinuxMint to contact distributors too, if they want to push Elyssa. I downloaded Elyssa-5-r1.iso and got the sound working fine and I feel comfortable with it, so thanks again for that recommendation - but I noticed for example t...

Re: old topic, no answer, same problem

That's excellent advice, Richard, and I will download Mint-5 this evening ... Hopefully another user-friendly Mint will appear in the next 2 years. Because of my great experience with LinuxMint-4, this week I recommended LinuxMint to a couple of people abroad and now I feel a bit bad about that - if...

Re: old topic, no answer, same problem

Thanks for the suggestion, Merlwiz. I've done that but it doesn't work. I have actually got the system to recognise my sound card as priority now (for how long I don't know, it may revert back sometime when I log out), but I still have no sound. There must be a conflict somewhere, maybe something el...

old topic, no answer, same problem

Hello Does anyone know how to get sound on LinuxMint-6, please? For the last decade, top of my wish list has been a graphical user interface where the user can click: search and show soundcards and then select one as default. Anyway, that's a 22nd century dream ... I've used LinuxMint-4 until now be...
