Re: Linux Kernel

I am currently trying to figure out how to upload screenies to the forums(ADMINS PLEASE HELP) To show you some examples. But if the box is not green, it is not installed. Even with a vanilla kernel via kernel.org, your kernel shows up in Synaptics as installed, provided you compiled the kernel image...

Re: Linux Kernel

Boot the 3.19 kernel. Uninstall the kernel 4.2, as it cannot be used on your mint 17.3 system anyway. What?! Check my signature please :D I am overwhelmed by how many times people are told this misinformation. Ubuntu and Mint have ruined the linux experience, In MY Opinion. But then again im old sc...

Re: Lost NVidia after Kernal Upgrade to 4.2

To the OP: purge the nvidia driver and reinstall it sudo apt-get purge nvidia* To reinstall: sudo apt-get install nvidia-xxx nvidia-settings nvidia-opencl-icd-xxx or use Driver manager to reinstall. The procedure from the link provided is not appropriate. Kernel 4.2 is available from Update Manager....

Re: Updating Adobe Flash Player for Firefox

I think some are ignoring the fact that Adobe flash 11.2 is the LAST version supported for linux.
You have to either switch to Chrome(or Chromium), or install chrome and use the pepperflash plugin for FF.
But even with this, flash games are "stuttery", on FF.

If this BleachBit is anything like the overly glorified CCleaner for Windoze, then it deserves the same recognition.
None at all :P

My 2 cents

Re: Linux Mint kernel 4.4.0-13

Check the change logs for 4.4.0 on kernel.org I dont know how big a leap you made on kernels, so you might have a bit of reading to do. My feelings on kernel upgrades are getting known :D I just grab the latest stable vanilla kernel and configure it myself. You can grab the source from the repos, an...

Re: Proper kernel update procedure?

The proper method for mint is MintUpdate, Synaptic, etc. The proper linux method is grab a vanilla kernel from kernel.org and configure and compile it yourself. :) But this is not for the faint-hearted. This takes quite a bit of time, and a LOT of research. I just throw this out there, because the O...
