Re: Is there a wifi scanner in the repos?

Hmm, I'm not sure. Looks very confusing. I just want something that will give me the MAC address of every device connected to my wifi.

Re: How to use this downloader?

Hi all41. I tried your example, this: youtube-dl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK6WLHNYjwM and it downloaded fine. Then I tried again the video I wanted and I got the same error message. Then I tried a different video of the same thing and got the same error. It's a music video that won't download...

[SOLVED] How to use this downloader?

Are there any instructions on how to use Youtube-dl anywhere? I'm at a loss how to use it. My first attempt failed. I got this message below (repeated 22 times): WARNING: Warning: Falling back to static signature algorithm WARNING: Automatic signature extraction failed: Traceback (most recent call l...

[RESOLVED] Is there a wifi scanner in the repos?

I am using Softperfect Wifi Guard. It scans your wifi and let's you know everything that's connected to your wifi. They stopped making a version for Linux a few versions back. Is there anything in the repos like this? Thanks.

Thanks. My number matched the one you gave. But where do you find those sums on the website?

[SOLVED] Where to find SHA256?

I just did a fresh download of Mint 64-bit MATE. The MD5 matched, but where do I find the SHA256? On this page here there is a link "Signed Sha256sum signatures" but what I get there doesn't match. This is what that page shows: -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iEYEABECAAYFAlaNO3wACgkQ...

Re: Your oldest running computer

I have an hp compaq that is about 8 or 9 years old. It currently has Mint 13 on it, which runs better than XP ever did on it (of course not have an AV hogging resources helps). It still has the original hard drive in it.

Re: How to update Pale Moon browser?

Did you actually install Pale Moon, or did you simply download the tarball, and extract and run? If you did the latter, that may be why the installer doesn't see a Pale Moon installation. I would do what M0em said, simply delete your old version of Pale Moon (saving from it whatever you want to carr...

Re: Questions about live DVD session

Okay, I get it now. You just copy over the Pale Moon folder from your usb to the /home folder or the desktop, and since those are in the RAM, so is the Pale Moon folder. I just may make use of this knowledge as I have a computer without a hard drive in it. Thanks all41.

You mean /home in the RAM? How is that possible? (I apologize if I'm being a little thick here.) :)

Re: Questions about live DVD session

Thanks for the reply Cosmo. I'm not comfortable at all (yet) with VirtualBox, but I can see how that would be the best solution. However, in the meantime, this: (I should have put this in my initial post.) I have downloaded the latest Pale Moon version, in a bzipped tarball file which can then be ex...

[SOLVED] Questions about live DVD session

A while back I read (not sure if it was here) where someone said they did all their online financial stuff while running a live OS session off of a disc. As I was thinking about this, two questions arose in my mind. 1. When running Linux Mint (or any distro) off of a disc, and surfing the web, where...

Re: Waterfox Installation

Firefox is already included in the Mint installation. If you installed 64 bit Mint, Firefox should be 64 bit as well (if I'm wrong someone correct me). In the Start Menu, look under Internet. There should also be a Firefox icon in the panel (Linux speak for taskbar). Oh, and I think Cosmo meant "rep...

The date of the hack should have been put in the email to avoid confusion. I thought it was hacked again until I read clem's first post in this thread.

Re: HTTPS on forums and website! :)

How come this forum doesn't allow image uploads for avatars? That would solve the problem. I took my avatar of Sgt. Schultz off because it wasn't available over https (and I can't find one that is).
