What to do if Timeshift screwed over your system?
The problem isn't Timeshift, it's PEBCAK. Linux Mint could have done a better job explaining how to set it up, though.

Re: Open as Administrator option gone after upgrade

I forgot about this. I switched to another distro a while ago (still use Mate though). This would definitely be a deal breaker for me if I were still using Mint. My advice would be to go back to 18.3, it's still supported till April 2021 (or switch distros).

Open Synaptic and see if caja-gksu is installed.

I think these are probably the same general bug - the failure to properly refresh affects regular caja windows aswell
I can vouch for that. I'm guessing it'll never get fixed.

Upload it to imgur.com and then link to it. Or, shrink the image down a bit.

Nope. All of that is exactly how you described it, but the option is the grey lettering that can't be clicked on, not the black lettering that functions when you click on it.
Then something must be wrong with your installation of Audacity, cause I'm able to use it.

I prefer Pale Moon. I only use another browser if I'm forced to, and in that case I use Basilisk

just kidding ,never heard of those browsers
Pale Moon has been around for at least 8 years or so. I prefer not to be a sheep and use Chrome or any based on it.

I'd be more concerned why you're using an old unsupported kernel.

Found the answer elsewhere. In a root terminal shell enter dpkg-reconfigure tzdata to switch time zones.

[SOLVED] Moved across time zones, clock messed up

I just recently moved across the US, from the Mountain Time Zone to the Central Time Zone. I changed the time zone in settings to Central Time, then changed the time to the correct time, but on every reboot the time keeps moving one hour behind. I am using the Mate desktop (obviously since this is t...

You have nothing to lose by trying to open the back and look for loose ribbon cables. If you open it, you'll only break it, and it's already broken.
Yeah, I'm already settled on the fact that I'll probably be buying a new monitor soon.

Monitor pixel problem

I just moved recently halfway across the US and my monitor, which rode in the trunk, did not survive unscathed. It has some light streaks mostly going up and down, and a few across. I'm assuming it's a pixel light problem? Does anyone got any ideas how, or even if, it could be fixed?

Linux Mint 13 has been end of life for almost 3 years. Install a current Mint, 18.x or 19.x.

The OP is using Firefox based on the last image linked to. Have you tried connecting using a brand new clean profile? That should always be the first thing to do when having problems with FF.

There's a fork of Thunderbird called Interlink Mail & News. I don't know if it would fit your needs, but you can check it out here:

Re: Low diskspace on "Filesystem root"

I think I've read on the forums that one reason this happens is because of having "Wipe free space" in Bleachbit checked. If it's checked, I'd advise to uncheck it.

Apart from the fact there are no new updates and no bugs fixes (there is nothing really to complain about for me, it works just fine, though), is that a big deal really to use an "expired" version ???
If you don't mind running a version that has security holes, then I guess not.
