Re: Good news for Skylake owners?

Dell’s Skylake XPS 13, Precision workstations now come with Ubuntu preinstalled
Is there a problem with Skylake and Linux?
I'm glad Dell makes Linux laptops.
I'm happy with my Chromebook + GalliumOS. But it's Broadwell.

Re: Adobe flash???

I play chess on chess.com without flash. Good to know.... I play chess there, as well. :) Best chess site in my opinion. I created Dark Forces for Chess.com , a style that turns the site dark. You need to install the Stylish plug-in to run it. But no, you don't need flash installed in Firefox to pl...

Re: System sometimes freezes with streaming video

The J2900 is a fairly new Intel pentium processor, it's not an Atom. I can also rule out internet speed as a problem. This is something happening that causes the whole PC to freeze up. It also appears to be happing when I am NOT streaming anything. Video drivers? I looked in Driver Manager but ther...

Re: Crowdfunding Porting Programs to Linux

Does anyone know if there is an organized effort to crowd fund porting programs to linux? I know crossover does it, but it's not cheap, especially if you're just one person like me. Crossover said a program costs 3000 dollar, plus 150 dollars an hour for special development plus 5 dollars per licen...

CUPS is a printer server service. The Wikipedia article seems a bit misleading; although CUPS does allow remote printing, it is actually needed to print locally. ArchLinux tells you all about it.

I have had zero issues with NTFS support in Linux. I even repartition and format NTFS drives in Windows using Linux GParted. Linux has better support for NTFS than Windows does. I say that because I've had files I could not delete in Windows, because the path name was too long. I tried this and tha...
