Re: Internet connection with out an ISP.

The only way would be to bring in your own fibre / diginet link into your home from a Tier-1 provider, effectively you will be your own ISP but there are massive costs involved in doing this, you need to purchase fixed IP's, DNS infrastructure and the line costs alone will probably break your bank ...

Re: Internet connection with out an ISP.

The reason I asked was because I found a load of videos on YT and wasn't sure weather it could be achieved. I guess if you did achieve something like this it would take an extremely large amount of knowledge and experience regarding networks in order to bridge the connections since you dont have acc...

Re: Resetting \ Renewing I.P Address under Linux Mint 18,

Hey and thanks to everyone for your replies. I was wanting an external I.P address change, as in the Internet. I looked at my I.P Address using the terminal last night, I think "ifconfig." I checked again after reseting the router. Turned it off and then back on and also hit the reset button with a...

Re: Can someone please elplaine OpenVPN.

My apologizes for my late reply as I must have missed them. I was hoping to get an in depth explanation of how the likes of tunneling and the various protocols work with OpenVPN. Are the servers similar to people hosting Relays or exit nodes on the TOR. A volunteer service in a manor of speaking. Th...

Is OpenVPN from what I can tell free. Who does the server belong too or servers. Who provides this free service and what are the connections involved such as tunneling or another.

Re: Can someone provide an over view of the Linux OS.

I was reading that Linux Mint is based of Ubuntu and Ubuntu is based of Debian. However LMDE is based directly of Debian and Debian has been around since the early 1990's. The different flavors available for each specific purpose from what I can tell; what is the difference between Linux and Unix a...

Re: Partitioning & Multiple OS Installations

I also do not know the KDE partition manager, but I could assume the following places: The right click menu of the partition, the partition menu in the main menu or via the advanced btton as to be seen in the first screenshot. There is one thing, that irritates me: There does not seem to be a colum...
