Re: return to windows emotional support group

I am one of those freaks who doesnt like my computer doing shit without telling me what its doing, and in Windows I have to constantly be on the lookout for it. One of my biggest gripes is things gobbling up my bandwidth. I was just over on my Windows partition and everything was glued up. I could b...

Re: return to windows emotional support group

I installed MSE for the helluvit. Except for one time when I bought a new laptop that somehow had the Blaster worm on it within the first few hours of use, I've never had any issues except that dealing with the software that's supposed prevent issues is often worse than the problem its supposed to c...

Re: return to windows emotional support group

There is an advantage in the sense of you being alerted to something wanting/needing privileges by the UAC prompt popping up requesting such instead of said something just going ahead without you necessarily being aware of its privileged state. But, yes, the main advantage lies in keeping for examp...

Re: return to windows emotional support group

But maybe it is the best solution. Well, no, best solution is as indicated not installing any anti-virus nonsense, nor infected wiggling-nudies screensavers and through mentioned non-administrator account keeping potentially passing-by children from doing same/similar... but other than that MSE is ...

return to windows emotional support group

I need one. I havent used Windows more than 5 times since I got Mint 3 years ago. I'm taking a GIS class and will need to use my W7 boot to run ArcGis. On the bright side being enrolled in school got me a brand new shiny MS Office 2016 for free, although I'm not sure if that's really a plus in the l...

Re: Libre files on dual boot

Yes, I'll be using Libre on both systems. I haven't checked but I presume they are somewhat different versions, but hopefully not enough different to matter.

Libre files on dual boot

Will I run into big troubles if I try to edit the same Libre files (primarily Writer and Calc) on multiple OS's? Currently running W7 Professional and Mint Cinn. 17.3. I'm ok with small troubles, just not OK with losing data or finding out I can only edit it in one OS and not the other after I've ma...

I tried several but ran into issues and my own impatience each time. I found this encryptomatic msg viewer, which is less than perfect but works

Re: why doesnt libre writer give me print quality options?

Doesn't your printer driver offer you to change quality? My HP laserjet does Sorry ... Guess I should have described how I do this with my print driver   Actually your post is the one that caused me to dig deeper...and deeper...and deeper...and finally found it! The detailed explanation...

Re: why doesnt libre writer give me print quality options?

Yes that's how I finally discovered it. It really shouldnt be buried so deep. It should come up immediately with the print properties window but you have to dig 2 layers deeper to find it. When I choose print from Firefox or PDF readers, image quality tab is right there on top.

Re: why doesnt libre writer give me print quality options?
