SOLVED: why doesnt libre writer give me print quality options?

That seems like a pretty basic functionality to be still missing after all these years. In order to print draft quality I have to export to a pdf and print that, and my puny lightweight pdf reader gives me the option.

Re: Firefox not connecting to websites after update?

I had the same problem yesterday. I uninstalled Firejail but that did nothing. I had to turn off hardware acceleration, then it worked.

Re: QGIS won't start up

Fellow QGIS (and ArcGIS) user here. While I can't offer a technical solution since I'm new to LM, what I have done before is use TeamViewer. I use it from my Mac to access both my windows and LM. I don't know if this would temporarily help your situation. But have you tried to install an older QGIS...

Re: sharing files between Mint 17.3 and W7

I have had bad experiences with Linux accessing a Windows (NTFS) drive or viceversa and now I play it safe by never having one OS access the other's HDD. I use a USB pendrive as bridge. Anything that is to be passed from one OS to the other goes hrough the pendrive. Being formatted in FAT32 both OS...

Re: QGIS won't start up

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and no change. I've been having so much trouble with Qgis on Linux lately I'm just going to do my Qgis on Windows for the time being, or until a solution emerges. I have to use it daily for work so I can't afford any down time. And I get a much newer version on ...

Re: sharing files between Mint 17.3 and W7

At least for now, it will be limited to files that originate in Linux, are used in Windows, then maybe used again later in Linux or Windows. or they will be low risk files like shapefiles and aerial photos.

sharing files between Mint 17.3 and W7

I have a dual boot W7 Home pro 64 and Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64. When I set it up 2 years ago I created a storage drive accessible to both. But are there dangers of using files in both operating systems? It would mostly be image files, GIS shapefiles/projects.

QGIS won't start up

Uh, boy, what is it now? QGIS has worked fine for a while now and won't start up at all today. I'm on Cinnamon 64 bit, Mint 17.3. Qgis is version 2.18 and I can't upgrade because it causes me huge problems so lets not go there. The only thing I can think of that might have wonked it up is I tried to...

Re: MrSid QGIS: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

Try this sudo ldconfig export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=....... See - https://gist.github.com/oeon/6527004 which outlines this slightly different step for the last stage... I'm not smart enough to know how to convert that last line to my system because I dont understand Linux file systems that well, but you ...

Re: MrSid QGIS: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

I think the instructions you are following might be wrong in the first place......? Specifically the bit about appending LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /etc/environment..... See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EnvironmentVariables and the note that LD_LIBRARY_PATH cannot be set in /etc/environment since Ubun...

Re: MrSid QGIS: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

Did you adjust the filename to reflect the digit change in LD_LIBRARY_PATH when you appended it to \etc\environment? haha...no I didn't. But I fixed that, saved it, logged out and in, and still get no response to the last command and still get the same error when I try to open the sid file. ...

Re: MrSid QGIS: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

sudo nano /etc/environment in a terminal to open the file in the CLI text editor. Copy/Paste the required line directly below the last line in the file (there will probably be only one existing line starting PATH=".......) Then press Ctrl-X, followed by Y to close the CLI text editor and save the f...

Re: MrSid QGIS: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

OK I figured out how to find the /etc/environment by logging in as root, but this is all new to me and I don't feel comfortable trying to append it without some guidance. None of the instructions I've found so far are clear to me, so if someone can walk me through how to append the needed line to /e...

Re: MrSid QGIS: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH Did you sudo apt-get install build-essential before trying to compile? No, that wasn't in the instructions and I'm just following those. But I ran it now and it was able to complete that step, so thanks! I ran the next 2 steps successfully too, but I guess I ...

MrSid QGIS: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

I probably have to go to stack exchange but they have too many rules that I dont understand so I'll try here first. Mint 17.3 Cinnamon. I'm trying to install MrSid support in QGIS 2.18.17 following the instructions below. Suprisingly, since I dont know what the heck I'm doing, I made it halfway thro...
