Re: Puppy Linux

I use Puppy (tarpup 6.0.5) 64 & 32 Bit. Great little distro especially for the older desktops that I run. Excellent support forum also. One of the things I like about it is the simple non flashy GUI just like Windows 98. There does seem to be some controversy about running in root. I don't worry abo...

Re: 64 bit on 32 bit PC

You are right. Since the OP failed to give any system specs as to what he has I just thought I would pass that onto him. Hey gary428509 send us your system specs as in what type of processor you have and what type of pc as more info as to what it is the better info we can give back. It is possible t...

Re: 64 bit on 32 bit PC

I use a 10 year old dell that came with Windows XP and Intel Pentium D 820 processor and only 3.0Gb of ram and 40Gb HDD and it runs 64bit Linux Mint Mate 17.1 fine.
As long as you don't do anything photo intense it should be fine.

Re: [Solved] BleachBit My Question

Thanks "The Old Timer" I will be following if you are still testing this out! I plan to keep using BleachBit only on the test computer which I am using as my main driver now. I figure to run it for awhile as only the test of time will determine the true results from using BleachBit. I also need to ...

Re: [Solved] BleachBit My Question

I believe BleachBit is a good cleaner if an end-user will take the needed time to learn how to use it. I have had some error messages occur when using certain features of BleachBit. BleachBit wasn't allowed access to certain files for cleaning and that may have been the reason for the errors. Again ...

Re: [Solved] BleachBit My Question

Well all is still good as I am trying more of the features and some that I check give me a warning. When I come across a warning I don't use that feature until I discover exactly what it does. So far so good no problems or deficiencies noticed with my running Linux distro. I will agree that I don't ...

Re: Changing CPU Help

Ok I read it backwards.
I would change to the i3.
Just make sure your motherboard and bios support the i3.

Re: Changing CPU Help

Why are you wanting to change them.
I would keep the i3 and not bother they both are only dual core and the i3 has 4M cache.
I don't think you will notice any difference for the hassle.

Just my opinion.

Re: [Solved] BleachBit My Question

In my case I am willing to break and destroy my Linux distro as BleachBit is being used on a test computer for learning purposes. If an end-user has doubts about using or doesn't understand how to use BleachBit then don't. Here is a proven solution to use by Pjotr from "Easy Linux Tips Project". htt...

Re: BleachBit My Question

I have read a lot of the threads about BleachBit that are on this forum and they all seem to wind up with the same biased opinions. No documentation as to what happened and as to how or what caused it to happen. I can see where a knowledgeable user understanding the functions of the features in Blea...
