Re: grub.cfg question

WHARFRAT

I am to new to Linux to understand how to do what you suggest. I found the debug line but have no idea the specifics of how to implement it, no idea where to start but I sincerely appreciate your suggestion.

Re: grub.cfg question

Thanks for such a quick reply. I chose to duplicate the line and prepend the original and modify the duplicate. Figured I will revert back in the future and won't have to remember what to do ;-)

grub.cfg question SOLVED

Running Mint18.1 on Dell I7 laptop with an SSD. Boot process seems to take a long time. I would like to see a text startup that may help me understand the delay. Searched this idea and found many suggestions to modify the grub menu.lst. That doesn't exist on my system but I do have grub.cfg, I find ...

Re: Journalctl question

journalctl -p 3 replicated all the entries in my original post. journalctl -p 2 displayed only two items. Doing a google search only produced many others having the same entries. I guess I will not go any further as everything seems to work in-spite of the errors.

I appreciate everyone's input.

Re: Failure installing WINE

An attempt to uninstall also failed with a similar error message. I tried installing and uninstalling several time and on the last attempt the installation completed successfully.
I'll mark it solved although I don't know why it did.

Re: Synaptic Package Manager errors out

The solution worked. All I did was enter "sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq plexmediaserver" in terminal. Received a couple of warning about the application been in a very poor state, that it should be re-installed before removal but then the script went ahead and uninstalled it. Everythin...

Re: How do I stop VLC from attempting to open file locations?

Or does bushyiii mean Firefox > Menu > Preferences > Applications ? You nailed it, I went into Applications and changed every association displaying VLC to "Always Ask" and the problem is solved for Firefox. The problem still exists within Chromium. I tried searching through various settings in Chr...

How do I stop VLC from attempting to open file locations?

I know I screwed this process up, I downloaded a video through my browser, the downloaded file was shown at the bottom of the browser. I right clicked on it and I believe I was given a choice on what action to take. What I thought I was doing was choosing to automatically start VLC for downloaded vi...

Re: Can applications be run that reside on a second HDD?

I do not have anything saved in the Home directory on the SSD. Does coping the user directory INCLUDING ALL THE HIDDEN FILES from the SSD to sdb3 affect in any way what is already on the HDD? Re: Can applications be run that reside on a second HDD?

At present there is a Home Directory on both drives, however, my preference is to only have Home on the HDD. Any help in how to to make this work is appreciated. Right now I have created links that are on my SSD desktop to access all the directories located within the Home directory on the HDD
