Re: LM 19 install fails at grub installation

Two questions, it seems like most everything is already on the LM 19 partition, if I rerun the installer does it pick up where the failure occurred or do I tell the installer to re-install using the LM 19 partition.

When do I enter the command "ubiquity -b"?

Then I got the message that grub failed and install stopped What can I do? . . Model: ATA SAMSUNG MZN...

Re: 32 bit Tara fails the installation (SOLVED)

Cinnamon and Mate versions are now co-existing on the laptop. I can get a much better idea of which will stay as I try different tasks on each version. It does appear though that mate is responding to commands quicker. Just curious why do you recommend users burn CDs rather than installing the distr...

Re: 32 bit Tara fails the installation (SOLVED)

For anyone not familiar with Etcher give this link a look: https://etcher.io/ I have played with so many distros over the last several years and putting the distro on a flash drive sure beats burning a cd. During this time I have used many installers and in my very humble opinion etcher is the easie...

Re: 32 bit Tara fails the installation

Using the multibootusb application to flash Tara onto the usb drive created the problem. I used the etcher application on the same usb flash drive and had a successful install of Tara using it.

Re: 32 bit Tessa fails the installation

Gave up waiting for root file system device . Common problems: - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline) -Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?) - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls/dev) ALERT! UUID=D08C-EDD4 does not exist. Dropping to a shell! That is a FAT-type (N)UUID. Did you (somehow; ...

Re: 32 bit Tara fails the installation

Initially I used gparted to create the ext4 filesystem before installing Tara. After the installation failed to boot I used gparted again and did find errors, they were corrected, again the install failed in the same way. Using the flash drive I again used gparted, this time no errors were discovere...

32 bit Tara fails the installation (SOLVED)

Installed the ISO to a flash drive and booted Tara to an old laptop, Booting from the flash drive works well but after installing to the HDD the system fails the boot process. Formating USB - SOLVED

So I play around with flash drives, trying different linux distros. One of the things that confuses me is why after I reformat a flash drive it seems to be owned by root and I cannot use it until I chown it. I have tried many different ways to reformat the drives and always the same result, whether ...

Re: System boots to initramfs

You are correct, I did type it incorrectly, substituted a 1 in place of an l, once corrected the typo I was able to run fsck, hit YES a number of times and successfully booted into MINT.

Thanks to everyone.

Didn't work for me, after entering the fsck command, as suggested, I get this reply "fsck:error 2 (No such file or directory) while executing fsck.ext2 for device /dev/mmcb1k0p1 I also tried the command using sda1, same result. I cannot boot from Live USB and this laptoo does not have a CD/DVD drive.
