Is Bluetooth still ON in LM 18?

So, I consider myself an average user. I've read somewhere that having bluetooth on automatically could be considered a security hazard. Is it still automatically on in LM 18? Could there be a way to tell Clem about this? To shut off the "automatic bluetooth on" feature? Let's have a discussion abou...

Re: Linux whole-system vpn & what are PPTP?

One place to start your learning adventure might be Wikipedia. Their VPN page is located HERE . PPTP is a acronym which stands for Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol. It is one type of protocol used in VPNs. The Wikipedia page for PPTP is HERE . OBTW, the term "whole-system VPN" has no meaning for m...

After I've learned quite a bit from all the members' input here. I simply followed the course of windows first, linux second . I installed windows. finally, I went to youtube to check on some other practical steps in installation of mint itself. I wanted to make sure that the HDD won't be erased (I'...

Re: Can I install win7 then upgrade to 10 after mint 17.2 (dual boot)?

Is your 17.2 system erasable? Because although certainly you can install Windows alongside you'd need some manual preparation and post... eh... paration to then later restore the ability to boot it. If this is in fact also a nice time to upgrade to 17.3 I'd empty the drive and let Windows 7 do its ...

Re: show date on xfce mint 17.2

Back then Compiz used Emerald themes, , you can check your Compiz Manager settings and make sure that Window Decorations are turned on. I'll try that. The sad thing is that it's much simpler on other distros. :( I don't know but It was the default on one of the ubuntu versions as far as I...

Re: what is -y ?

-y, --yes, --assume-yes -y is the "short form" of --yes, or --assume-yes (the two dashes are "long form") apt-get install -y lxde or apt-get install lxde -y are identical in result. Positionally, it is a matter of preference, I guess where one uses the -y in this case. I always use it in the first ...

You can try this terminal command to make sure that you do have Compiz running:

Code: Select all

compiz --replace
Did it. some features worked but the "minimize", "maximize", and the "X" buttons disappeared :D I had to disable everything.

It's still unstable on mint :(
