If you are an old Debian user you might want to try LMDE Betsy as well. :)

Re: Update Manager display issues

Did you check if the icon is enabled?
Open Update Manager -> Options -> uncheck Show icon only when updates are available. I may have translated it poorly from German.

Re: My desktop is flashing and icons changed

How and what did you update?

Can you have a look in your update history from the update icon? There is a drop down menu that will show the update history.

Re: Upgrade or Start Again, a dilemma...

I am running the 18 Beta, and I understand it will be possible to upgrade from the Beta to the stable release soon. But my plan is to nuke everything with a fresh installation when it is released. But I am curious. Is there any downside to going the upgrade route? I'm fine with taking the time to d...

Re: Home Printer/Scanner/Copier All-In-One

I can only tell you what we use at home and it works out of the box. It is an all-in-one HP printer OfficeJet. I guess all models work fine under Linux. Generally HP is well supported under Linux.

Re: Will the Linux Mint 18 Welcome app include a software boutique with one-click installation like in Ubuntu MATE 16.04

It is a really nice way to get some software though we already have Mint's software center. There would be no problems in using the Boutique. It does the same, add/remove software. It can even add PPAs, Mint has a PPA manager. With that said, adding PPAs is the only stability concern. I tried it and...

Re: How to change font size of virtual terminal for Linux Mint 17.1?

Normally you just go with the defaults except what you want to change.

Wait, let me find a post somewhere with screenshots. It would be easier for you.

How about this:

Re: How to change font size of virtual terminal for Linux Mint 17.1?

You can change it from the command line: sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup follow the screens and it should come a selector for fonts, the default on Debian based distros is fixed, change it to something else, e.g. terminus. But as you have issues with the size, I would only change that. This woul...

Re: Which Linux Mint edition to choose?

I run Linux Mint 18, still beta, with Cinnamon on a Thinkpad T400. It runs fine. I would say it depends on your personal preference and on your hardware. If you have less RAM Mate would be better, it is way lighter than Cinnamon but Cinnamon should run just fine to its full potential when you have a...

Hello. Testing Mint 18 beta

Hello Linux Mint community. I will make it short. :) I am just trying Linux Mint Cinnamon 18 Beta 64 bit and so far it is running great. I always wanted to try out Cinnamon but on Debian, where I come from, it was just too old. Usually I run sid but there I mostly use minimal WMs or lighter desktops...
