Re: Video fail and browsers - what's up?

Thanks loads, powerwagon75
That was the ticket. Uninstalled Opera and installed the newest beta and we're back up and running :D :D
I'll see if the same will hold for the others.

[Solved] Video fail and browsers - what's up?

I'm running 18.3 Cinnamon with all the updates, and I'm finding lots of issues with online videos. Pepperflash or whatever is installed, everything that multiple sites demand is installed on this box. However: Based on the video content of this site: https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/ I have to a...

Re: heatsink/fan for Intel DQ77cp Motherboard

After going online at the "Intel Communities" forum, it seems a good chance the board is 1 of 2 things: a knock-off, or a "proprietary" board that was dumped on the market by somebody so it's doing the "Amazon Rebound" and my refund is on the way. I've bought 3 boards i...

Re: How do I get videos to run on opera browser

It seems that this issue is an Opera thing. The same version on another box is also video-crippled. It worked beautifully into version 49, but I gues updates did it in. Not finding anything pertinent anywhere, so... "Ding, dong...opera is dead...." :D Replaced it with Slimjet a couple of d...

I found this in my "How To" bookmarks - I guess I forgot about it.
I haven't done it myself, but maybe it's what your looking for:

Who are you?

Someimes I wonder who you all are.
I mean, everybody here is into Linux, and further than that, they're into Linux Mint.
Where does this come from? What is that some of us need to be in charge of stuff? Further speculation not only expected, but demanded here. Purposefully vague.

Re: heatsink/fan for Intel DQ77cp Motherboard

Weirdness. Evil digital spirits. I've been typing "DQ77CP" and various queries into the Intel Search box, and I've been getting told simply that it's not supported any longer. Now I went in through the link you posted and did it again, and found the info right away. I have not been able to...

Re: heatsink/fan for Intel DQ77cp Motherboard

Thanks, ClixTrix, but no. It does show that a standard heatsink is round; on this Intel board marked and sold as a Socket 1151, there are pieces of circuitry sticking up where the heatsink lays, so fail. It needs a rectangular and raised shape. And because it's discontinued, Intel doesn't make the s...

Re: heatsink/fan for Intel DQ77cp Motherboard

I would show you a photo of the chip enclosure however I don't know how to post images, and the instruction to use "rimg" is not helping me as I can't get it too work. How do I do this? - I'm not following the info in some other posts here. "I'm so-o-o-o confused..." :? The right...

[Solved]heatsink/fan for Intel DQ77cp Motherboard

This is a socket 1151 board, but has an issue: Two sides around the socket have raised circuits too close to the CPU housing and stop an ordinary cooler from fitting. The old MB was an HP, so of course the proprietary sink/fan won't transfer. It is rectangular, and doesn't overhang the board. I have...

[Solved by replacing Opera]How do I get videos to run on opera browser

Since a couple of Opera Updates/grades a while back, hardly any videos besides Youtube will run. The system says Flash is installed, but obviously it's not working. Since Opera is also a Chromium browser, why does Flash work in Chrome, but not Opera? I ran dpkg -l *flash* > listflash.txt and got thi...

Windows is really for people who want a tool, and don't care about how it works.

The ultimate "bad scene" forum is coloured mostly orange. Those people are psychopathically mean, vicious and intolerant. No wonder they're losing users to other distros.

Re: Bizarre new SCAM

That's why i only buy online from Amazon (maybe eBay is cool, too?) because they don't sweat it. If I don't get it, I tell them, and they send a replacement. If it ever shows up, I return it.
Simple. Killer business plan.

Re: Do you use Windows?

iTunes. iTunes won't run in Wine, so I run Windows in a VM just for the iPod. Why an iPod, you say? Because this ancient iPod Touch is indestructible - about to replace the battery **- and nothing else is worth a pinch of.... I've tried half-a-dozen. I haven't figured out Hackintosh yet, for a VM, b...

Re: Who no longer uses Windows?

iTunes. iTunes demands Windows, so I run it on a VM, and that's all it does. Why an iPod, you may ask? Because nobody else makes an alternative that's anywhere near as reliable as this old iPod Touch. I've tried half a dozen, and they've all been crap in comparison. (I haven't figured out Hackintosh...
