Re: MBM2 Mint Box Mini

I have a few years yet. but something like the MBM strikes me as a tech retrofit, into a classic hotrod. MBM+ 8 to 10 inch touch screen. Signal running to amps for audio output. Hop on wifi, download some tunes, and set playlist. Or passanger can watch downloaded video while cruising to the shows.

Re: Grumpy old man maybe

Its the generation gap, I have noticed. Younger generations tend to be more the instant gratification type. If they cant find an answer in 3 minutes they seek help. Where as, the older generations will spend days looking to get the satisfaction of fixing it themselves.

Re: MBM2 Mint Box Mini

i built a MITX media center with the old FM2+ chipset right after Ryzens release. Spent 200 USD. The case is the size of the office/manufacturing station nodes, so its not a tiny thing( i could have gone smaller chose not too, wanted drive space). But R7 graphics much better for large display and vi...

Re: Cashless Society is getting closer

Aluminum is the key to blocking chip readers. Also if you want to aggrevate the power company, it works there too with the smart meters.

Re: Observations on life

As a native rural "flatlander", all i can say is everyone in the major cities drives like idiots.I experienced jersey/York area n a tractor trailor with a D7 dozer on the back. People still wanted to play road games lol. Chicago wasnt too bad would have preferred to be in a car. Trips to Maine weren...

by webmasters i mean the folks who set up the main page. Lest he/she not bury the 18.3 download over the 19.0 download.

Re: Will Mint 19.x contain Ubuntu's diagnostics data collection?

The hard data they are wanting to collect is irrelevant. Hardware specs data will be skewed. VM's will skew data, as well as the folks who are frequent bare metal installers.

Re: 18.3 XFCE is so rock solid

The problem with Mint XFCE is that is is so rock steady, you do not want to go to the latest release. Hopefully this time around, the webmasters will highlight 18.3 for new persons versus throwing them into a buggy 19.

Re: Cashless Society is getting closer

Resistor hit the nail on the head. Seems everyone missed it, or he didnt explain it well enough. Whilest they may spy on what we purchase, we have been cashless for over a decade now. It is not determined by my or your transactions. It is determined by the cashless transactions between the Federal R...

Re: At the Mercy of the local WiFi police

I have Viasat. Here is all the asterisks. You will never see 12mbps. Upto does not mean will. Unlimited is only from 3-6 am. Once data is used up, you get kicked to neuternet. Which is around 4-10kbps. Welcome to having few to no choices in rural connections.

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Are you set to medium folding power? The WU with longer TPF are more GPU intensive. I really took a hit going from 40 inch 1080p to 55 inch 4k. If i set my reso to 4k the tv will turn off as it loses signal from GPU. If i leave it at 1080 I can watch movies in windowed mode. I have been in these int...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Just saw that the other day myself. I second the welcome aboard! Anyone else been considering a ryzen upgrade? I would like the new G-series for my media center. Vega drivers are still a joke. But the old folding rig is still running FX CPU. I can build a cheap replacement set for the folding rig wi...
