Re: How to solve a math-type problem...

Your vehicle has a specific braking distance named 60 - 0 stopping distance. No math should be required.

Re: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, any chance of installing Mint on that ?

Beingh vega based the open source should work. For closed source, the AMD GPU PRO should/will work. I may take the next driver release for this new chip to accept the closed source driver. Have patience they will get there. Me personally, I am waiting to see if they do a 4 core 8 thread version with...

The next US mission is 2020. I will be another rover launch. This one will be more focused on on drilling and seismic activity.Man has always been 20 years away from Mars. We will not get there until there is another space race.

Re: Computer housing. Some thoughts about heat dissipation and design.

Will never happen. The very basics of cooling is removing the heat. Any attempt to collect said heat for local use, keeps the heat inside the machine. A mining/folding rig can remove the heat outside the case and raise the room temp a few degrees, depending on room size. Any heat sink maintained by ...

Re: Rx560 No HDMI sound

Also in the sound settings you will get an output device for each software that uses sound. Firefox, media player, VLC, etc. They will each have their own independant hdmi selector. It will only be available with the software running.

Re: AMD or NVIDIA on Mint?

Is open CL not backwards compatable? The amd gpu pro divers should give open CL 2. Miners and folders use open cl2.

Yeah AMD has been an eyesore since they went and made a new driver stack.

Power down modem and router. Wait 2 mins power back up. This will get a new IP. Option 2 is dns flush, not sure how to do this in linux.

Re: AMD or NVIDIA on Mint?

Your need for open cl is? Your DE is?

Nvidia has easier drivers at this time. They also have better performance per watt than AMD. AMD is cheaper out of pocket. But with bloated GPU prices, not sure that is even relevant at this time.

Re: Anyone else tired of reddit?

Never got into any of the social media garbage. Cesspools of the internet. People are shocked when they find out I dont have Facebook. They ask me why, and I reply " I have better things to do with my life." I wished I lived in a big city. The only reason to walk down the main drags, and intentional...

Re: Do most Linux users DIY or have OEM systems?

I have built all my own since my first rig(K6-400). As a self builder I am at a cross roads. All the spare hardware I have is ddr3. I am finally going to have to move to DDR4. I dont remember alot of things. However I do not remember the sd to ddr jump(or any ddr generation) being so expensive.as th...

Re: AMD and Nvidia, need a play nice together solution.

Tried moving libGL.so from its folder to break the open GL cycle. It of course didnt work. I was just something quick and easy to try. Going to have to try the manual install and hope it prompts to not install open GL.

Obviously, I speak with the perspective of someone who lives in Florida (of all places!) but I can't imagine living without air conditioning during the summer. The only smart device I have is a smart meter. This was installed by force. For the dumb phone and dumb TV, those industries themselves are trying to rub out the dumb versions of their products.

Smart shoppers buy dumb products and vote with the wallet.

Re: AMD and Nvidia, need a play nice together solution.

After yet more searching, it appears libGL.so is the main culprit. I have 384 drivers installed from the driver manager atm. This file is found at > /usr/lib/nvidia-384/ . I have DL'd the 384.111 nvidia installer, a .run file. Have not tried manual install yet to see if it prompts for openGL ignore....

Re: Recommendations for 4TB 3.5" SATA III hard drive?

WD red. Just go with slower nas drive. My media plays just fine from one through router over 2.4ghtz bandwidth. If you do back ups to this drive, nas drives handle multiple read/writes better than desktop drives.

Re: AMD and Nvidia, need a play nice together solution.

I would be doing mine for folding( see signature, its akin to mining). Open CL is the key for such a task. Based on the link. it would appear the same could be done in Mintbuntu. Manual install with no open gl followed with driver manager/ manual install of open source AMD. I am assuming a manual in...
