Re: Open my file manager as root with a command line?

You are saying it's now prohibited by the desktop environment in later editions of Mint, fine, but I am using Linux Mint 18.1... It's an old one.

Re: Open my file manager as root with a command line?

I tried to open Dolphin (my file manager) as root with right click, but it does not work. Can anyone tell me how I can open it with a command line? Thanks in advance. Doing such a thing is now prohibited by the desktop environment in later editions of Mint, and for good reason. You'll bork your con...

You could look into the wallet settings and see what can be found.
Thanks, but I don't use KDE Wallet so I doubt the issue is from that.

Re: Open my file manager as root with a command line?

Of course. It was that simple. It worked with the the command line. Thank you. It should work if you open your home directory then open a folder in there as root. That's how caja works it should be the same in Dolphin. I don't know why but I tried that way and although the root window appears (for a...

Re: Windows of my Linux Mint system are NOT visible

I hope the touchpad sensitivity is an improvement. Now I remember why I was not updating Kernels... Since I updated my Kernel to 4.4.0-141 now the cursor of my laptop moves around by itself (most of the time downwards) without me touching the touchpad. I had mentioned this problem years ago ...

Re: Windows of my Linux Mint system are NOT visible

I found what was causing the problem. I simply changed my KDE theme to the default one and now it's back to normal. Thank you very much for help Smurphos, without your input I could have not imagine the problem was coming from KDE. Nevertheless, perhaps I'll have to contact you again because since I...

Re: Windows of my Linux Mint system are NOT visible

Based on some googling I think that error message is due to a setting KDE puts in by default in ~/.gtkrc-2.0. Do you have that file? However none of the search results seem to be relevant for your particular issue so that might be a red herring. Yes I have the: .gtkrc-2.0 file, and actually I have ...

Re: Windows of my Linux Mint system are NOT visible

I did install mint-meta-kde gnome-themes-standard But it did not help with my problem. --- Now when I execute: driver-manager I get: Gtk-Message: (for origin information, set GTK_DEBUG): failed to retrieve property `gtk-primary-button-warps-slider' of type `gboolean' from rc file value "((GString*) ...

Re: Windows of my Linux Mint system are NOT visible

You are probably right concerning GTK thing. Because when I ran: driver-manager I got: gksu:11635): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "adwaita", Gtk-Message: (for origin information, set GTK_DEBUG): failed to retrieve property `gtk-primary-button-warps-slider' of type `gb...

SOLVED - Windows of my Linux Mint system are NOT visible

Some windows of my Linux Mint system are NOT visible. For example. When I click on: "Manage the drivers for your devices" First I should have a window asking me my password BUT it does NOT show up. It's there but it's invisible . I know about it because I can't do anything else at that point. Then i...

I have 52.9 ESR. I know I am using an old version but it's the only solution I have to use old add-ons which does not work with the latest Firefox version. Anyway. I can update FF to the latest version but I don't think the problem will be solved because I have the exact same problem with Thunderbir...

Re: Could not update PIP

I just realized something else. When I click on the Firefox Menu, the window does actually appear but it's invisible to me. See here (when it's visible, as it should be): Screenshot_20190101_144744B.png If I put the cursor down below and click on it, where I suppose there is the + sign, then it actu...

Thanks for your input trytip. It's difficult to explain with pictures something that actually does not happened as it should, because it does not show anything in fact... I'll try again. Re: Could not update PIP

What exactly is your problem, anyway? You wrote you cannot click buttons? In the application or in web sites? I did that just now to verify what I am saying with uBlock Origin.... Right click brings up a menu. Left Click brings up the STATS about what it has blocked. When I do that nothing happens....
