Re: Firefox working horrible, dont want to go Chrome, help please

alex2035 Have you looked at Pale Moon? I have it installed on a number of systems and found it simple and extremely stable. Basically, it's Firefox old school and supports many Firefox extensions. Here's their web page. https://www.palemoon.org/ * You can check the list of extensions, themes, langua...

Re: Configure "ASUNDER"

69Rixter: A while back, a friend (uses Linux) had to convert a number of .ape files and he found Flacon to be the simplest converter (with a GUI) for that purpose. I watched him convert a few and it performed the task as claimed. One can follow the install instructions here: https://mintguide.org/au...

Re: Kolourpaint Handbook not available

Not certain if the version is the same. However, I found an online version of "The KolourPaint Handbook" dated (2016-07-25). I suspect it will cover the majority of help questions you may have (perhaps all). Handbook: https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/kdegraphics/kolourpaint/index.html Inste...

Re: [HELP] Spotify Closes immediately after opening

CrestedCracker: I investigated their community forum and found these responses. They seem to duplicate your issue and the solution looks pretty simple. "Hope I'm not violating any forum rules, by sending you directly to the links - rather than retyping the instructions". Just to darn lazy ...

Re: Issues with printing in colour

A few stats about your printer might help us help you... For instance: What's the mfg and model number of your printer and any other info you might recall regarding changes you made? Based on your description, I question if your attempting to defaulting the printer back to it's original settings or ...

Re: Thunar nightmare again

yosoyese: I can't & won't speak for MtnDewManiac. But personally, I don't get fixated on any individual software package. Much less feel bad. I would invest in seeking an alternative for any package that struggled with stability (assuming it impacted me on a regular basis). Background: I've been...

Re: Thunar nightmare again

yosoyese: I get it and was only suggesting that work a rounds are available. It's been my experience that waiting on bug fixes and/or updates to solve issues - is questionable at best. Sadly, I've been excited to install a bug fix that corrected one issue - only to create another. It can be truly fr...

Re: Thunar nightmare again

I really like Thunar and work around the naming and the file transfer from one folder to another - issues. I use the properties option when changing the name of a file or folder (right click on file/folder and select properties - it should open to the general tab). When the properties window opens t...

Mingle I believe you on the right trail. I'm using 18.0 Sarah and this is the process that works for it. Hope it still applies to 18.1. Instead of trying to select an individual wallpaper pic from within the folder, simply select the "folder" and click "Open". All the wallpaper i...

Re: Greatest Rock and Roll band EVER!

My all time fav. has always been "The Eagles". Seems they came along at the exact right time. Our country needed to chill after the turbulent 60's and early 70's. List of my top 15: 1. Eagles 2. Jefferson Airplane 3. CCR 4. Steppenwolf 5. Jimi Hendrix 6. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet B...

Re: Need Beta Testers For New Pingus Levels

sphyrth: I won't argue with your assessment of the potential motives for why the game has remained stagnant. As I have no idea what the devs of Pingus envisioned for the game. However, the response I received from the individual (contact on the Pingus web site), stated that they have other outside i...

Need Beta Testers For New Pingus Levels

Many might believe Pingus is dead. But it's been my experience that kids really enjoy playing it. The problem is the repetitive look and feel of the game. I've found a way of using (what I termed as) reflective lighting. It uses the existing options in Pingus to create lighting. Now, it's more fun a...

Re: Desktop Freezes, but mouse still works

***Just a thought*** This might be indicative of a video driver issue. I experienced this periodically when either watching videos or streaming and had the entire desktop lockup (solved the problem by changing the video driver). I noticed that there's a number of different video drivers available fo...

Re: How to disable mouse over popup in xfce taskbar?

Not sure this works on 17.3, as I've just recently installed 18.0. Try the steps below. 1. Right click on one of the offending icons in the panel (I believe your calling it the taskbar) and select properties from the popup menu. 2. Left click on the Advance tab(hopefully you have one???) and check t...

I wish to take a moment to THANK all those who welcomed me. I'm of the opinion that a community of users helping each other - can accomplish significantly more than a community of users only expecting answers from others. It's been my experience with Linux that - every time I've assisted someone els...

Hello From A Mint Newbie

Recently installed Mint 18 "XFCE" after being a Ubuntu and Xubuntu user since 7.04 (FF). The install was very simplistic and went without issue. The total time investment including setup and prefs took approx. 1.5 hours (helps that I'm a minimalists). An Excellent Start - Impressive! Look ...
