Re: LinuxMint18.1MATE backup image questions.

EDIT: My hesitancy to disable Secure Boot to "just try and see" if the CD would work forced me to retry the USB route. Why disable a function to enable something that is for me, problematic for so many other reasons? Being also hesitant to use "new" CLI commands in the CloneZilla Live make-a-bootabl...

Re: Solved grub & Serena 18.1 UEFI Secure Boot non-issue

Another software that will not run is CloneZilla Live. Even though is selected the recommended "Secure Boot safe" version. Pain is the word. EDIT: The *iso boot CD version did not work so I tried the boot *amd64.zip USB version, it worked. Created the USB download Secure Boot version of Cl...

Re: LinuxMint18.1MATE backup image questions.

Ok. Trying the CD route. ...I downloaded the Secure Boot recommended version of CloneZilla live 20161121-yakkety amd64.iso. There was mention of disabling Secure Boot in the output as the program crashed. It tried to run so it's just the Secure Boot enabled stopping it I guess. Is Secure Boot a Micr...

Re: LinuxMint18.1MATE backup image questions.

I am having fits with this. Downloading CloneZilla won't do any good unless I run it in a LiveUSB environment. So assuming I download CloneZilla in a Live Environment every time I want to create an image, it should run, and then I can make an image of a partition onto a DVD. That is the plan. I don'...

LinuxMint18.1MATE backup image questions.

Well, I learned my lesson. I wrote a post and was editing it for four hours trying to make sure I had all the information right, and ran across some advice about hitting Ctrl+Alt+F2 and was graced with a non-stop scrolling screen of nonsense. So I would thank you for clarifying a bit more what happe...

Please hang up and try your call, again.

BLAST! Configuration tab sez: " No cards available for configuration " :!: I'll try turning it off and on again. I am getting a very weak audio out of youtube, no headphone audio. Still no hardware showing in the configuration tab. EDIT: two days later Hardware is showing Built-in Audio, 1Output/2In...

Re: [SOLVED] Unable to Get Sound/Audio

Synaptic Package Manager shows pulseaudio installed. I can't find the program listed and it doesn't come up in menu search. what I do have is a Sound app that shows Dummy Input and Output with no Hardware listed. So, I am assuming since I can't open a "pulseaudio" application that it must be somethi...

Re:Unable to Get Sound/Audio

No, but thank you for suggesting that. alsamixer didn't show up in software manager, so I got Gnome-alsamixer which opened to a blank screen with menu items that did nothing. I removed that and looked for qasmixer - it did not show up in software manager or Synaptic Package Manager. So thanks, I hav...

Similar situation, looking all over the place to see if I can't figure it out. Nope. Was about to download Gnome-alsamixer, but before I do, maybe I ask for input. Re: where to start troubleshooting shutdown problems

Man! That was awesome! It was like a laptop smack-down. BAM! OFF! DONE!

The laptop is shutting down without any of that rouge fan operation going on anymore. One smack-down and it is behaving now.

ThanKs! That worked like lightning.
