Re: Mint 19.1 won't boot after update

This situation is exactly why most, if not all, the experts on here say that you need to study how to recover from a failure before you encrypt. Even if I knew how to do it, I still couldn't perform those tasks from where I'm at. So not very helpful advice there. I think what Larry78723 was trying ...

Re: Best Way To Uninstall Software?

What is the best way to remove software in Linux Mint 20? Use the Synaptic Package Mananger or use the Software Manager, in order to remove the installations you no longer want. From there, copy and paste the following codes, one at a time, and that should clean up any leftovers left behind...DAMIE...

Re: sudo apt upgrade not upgrading everything

I had a chance to find the other thread, [SOLVED] Slow boot after 19.3->20 upgrade. One of the recommendations I gave in that thread was to use the command in this thread [Solved] Ultra slow boot on Linux Mint 20. Each person to whom I've passed that advice found files were removed even though they...

Re: We sometimes loose compositions in Firefox on the Web

Why are the forum members beating me up for not knowing all about the inner workings of computer Linux operating systems? Do you do that to everyone? What's your problem? So what if I don't know everything about computer operating systems. Who are you to be bullying me because I don't know what you...

Re: Virus on Linux Mint ?

You need to be very well aware of the many false positives that clam av will throw at you...always ask before panicking when you see them, and YEP you will see mostly, if not all false positives, with clam av on a Linux system...Clam av is only designed to find virus/malware that can be inflicted on...

Re: sudo apt upgrade not upgrading everything

Ok just had a "bright" idea but MrEen had it first a few posts ago. He had mentioned problematic repos referring to certain mirrors and one he had had problems with. Likewise in my experience, I found "Evowise" mirror to be systematically problematic. I changed from using mirrors...

Re: sudo apt upgrade not upgrading everything

I don't believe I removed any programs that I had installed via ppa's before removing the ppa's. I'm trying to figure out the programs that should have been removed. I've been able to identify a couple which I have uninstalled. I tried updating again to see and still no change. Just a thought here,...

As mentioned, I would expect to see issue with a repo, but nothing shows. I wouldn't think this would be hard to solve, but I don't seem to get any errors or messages to point me in any direction. I would be backing up all your files, pics, videos, etc. onto some USB drives, A.S.A.P, because that doesnt sound anything like a virus, but more like an immenent Hard Drive failure...DAMIEN

Re: Linux mint to get linux kernel 5.10

This thread was not made to ask for transition to 5.10 for linux mint now but to discuss benefits and disadvantages of the new LTS kernel. for those saying that we have an lts kernel, i never said anything different, I just stated the fact that is the newest lts kernel and it also other features.
