Re: EnlightenMINT

Apparently Maryan Linux has dropped its Mint base. If you want an e17 desktop for Mint, read the HOWTO: installation of E17 from CVS (UPDATED) for Ubuntu by Rui Pais:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=546746

It works for Mint 4.0 and I am currently using this e17 setup for my desktop.

Re: Daryna XFCE CE Final long delay

So why don't you replace firefox? there are a few alternatives... greetz daelsta Because it still should work the same even if others don't want to use it. Also it's all Mozilla based browsers not just Firefox. Firefox is my main browser. I support its use in Mint XFCE. FF is very functional and st...

Re: SSHHHHhhh. Don't tell my wife....

   Darn it! I taught my wife too much... I've bragged too much about Mint and she knows all about it. On the plus side, she hates her Vista notebook, so I may have to do some changes eventually...

Howto Boot Linux Mint 4 on OLPC XO-1 Using a 4 Gb SD Card

Summary: Initially I intended to install Linux Mint onto a 4Gb SDHC and dual boot this with the native OLPC Sugar OS. My newbie attempts failed, so I decided to follow a documented Ubuntu install from the OLPC wiki. However, the Ubuntu install procedure did not wipe the data from my SDHC card. The u...

I don't like the green. Sorry
That's funny I normally like blue better.
Here is the blue version I modified 1st.

I like this blue version with the green lettering. Nice ideas from everyone, though!

Re: Mint is Top Desktop Distro On Distrowatch!

Glad to see I made the right choice with Linux Mint! :D It's nice to see positive and constructive reviews. The author had indicated positive and negative points for each distro tested, and did mention that all the distros in the review did work fairly well for their intended users.

Ubuntu Gutsy Tribe 5 seems to work well - hopefully we'll see a Gutsy-based version of Mint soon.
I can also confirm that the Gutsy Tribe 5 Live CD boots up on the Dell Inspiron 1720 Notebook.

Are both of your laptops Dells? The newer Dells have to be tweaked in order to load the LiveCDs. See http://linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4372

Link on how to boot Mint 3.0 LiveCD for Dell Inspiron 1720

I had the same problems with my new Dell Inspiron. Try this:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... piron+1720

It worked for my Inspiron 1720. I'm currently posting using the Mint 3.0 LiveCD. :D

If I get brave I may try to install later.

An American company is thinking of switching to Linux Mint and use Cassandra Light Edition on 14 laptops.
I wonder which company it is... :D I was hoping Dell might do this for the global market, since Mint is a derivative of Ubuntu so it would work with the current Linux offerings from Dell.

I like the simplicity of #22 and the LM of #26; I also wonder how #22 would look like with a slightly darker green. I have to go with #22.

Hot syncing Palm PDAs with Linux Mint 3.0 install

Thanks for the kind welcome! Well, I've finally gone and installed my first Linux distro! It was a close choice between Elive and Mint... (the reason I chose Mint is because it's slightly more polished, IMO.) I'm still tied to Windows XP as I've set up a dual boot. Maybe that will change in the futu...
