Re: Thunderbird authentication

I'm assuming you don't have a backup from before this happened ?

I do at least weekly bkups, more if I change something.

You could try setting up a different user Gmail account, see if that works, or even try a different email program.

Re: Thunderbird authentication

Yes, Mint 18.3 is the only one. And I don't intend to reinstall the OS. At least not yet. I am merely going to reinstall the mail client. Well I am using Mint 19.1, and Thunderbird 60.7.0 (64bit) and have had zero issues. I guess I was assuming you were on 19.1 too  I did a clean install of 1...

Re: Thunderbird authentication

Worth a try to reinstall, I assume you have things backed up anyway ?

Is Mint the only OS you are using Thunderbird for ?

Re: Thunderbird authentication

Could be a number of things but I would try changing from Pop to imap.gmail.com ?

IMAP is what I've had for ages, been a long time since I used a Pop/Pop3 setting.

Have you tried gmail from your web browser to see if that works ?

I used to swear by HP, but that changed to swear AT HP, mostly because of the cost of maintaining ink supplies, especially when not using a printer too often.
I bet you used inkjets before. When you don't print often, that's not the best choice.
You win the bet :D

Re: What printer should I get?

I used to swear by HP, but that changed to swear AT HP, mostly because of the cost of maintaining ink supplies, especially when not using a printer too often. I switched to Brother Laser printers ( HL-L2320D, MFC-9130CW ) and have never been happier, especially with not having to worry about ink dry...

I did a search on your video card and it seems what you are experiencing is not uncommon with that card.

You could also search this forum for "blank screen in Driver Manager" too.

Re: VLC 3.0.6 Crashing LinuxMint 19 (tara)

That's not normal, should show the driver in use.
Somebody else will have to chime in as I've never seen a blank driver screen.

Re: VLC 3.0.6 Crashing LinuxMint 19 (tara)

Menu ( bottom left )

Administration

Driver Manager

Should show Nvidia driver and the Nouveau one.

Click on the Nvidia one and then the Apply Changes button and then reboot.

Probably a good idea to back up your system first in case of a problem.

Re: VLC 3.0.6 Crashing LinuxMint 19 (tara)

Have you tried the Nvidia driver instead of the Nouveau one ?

I use VLC 3.04 with the recommended Nvidea driver (390) and never had a problem.

Re: ASUS PC with UEFI and Mint 19.1 Install

Sure a lot of hate for Asus  I've been using Asus motherboards for most of my desktop builds since the late 80's and have been happy with them Anyway, my current computer is an Asus Strix Z270E gaming motherboard. I have Win 10 Pro, Ubuntu 19.02.4 & Linux Mint 19.1 all installed in Legacy mode...

Re: Strange ghost image behaviour / screen corruption on the desktop

I am using Nvidia driver version 381.09 which fixed graphic corruption when coming out of standby.

Don't know if it will fix your problem but thought I'd mention it.

You can change the font size right in the Window Manager.
Yes, that is the one I have picked, funny I couldn't find this before, I've literally spent days on this

Thanks again !

Re: Can't change size of topmost window item

I changed to the default theme, and now at least there is a box around those items that makes it easier to see, now I have to find out how to increase the size in that topmost bar, as like I said, the font is really tiny even though I have all other bars tweaked the way I want. EDIT: Well finally I ...

A shame as I can't use it this way, too hard to place the mouse arrow where I want it.

[SOLVED]Can't change size of topmost window item

First time post and after looking everywhere I can't find a solution to this. Mint 18.1 XFCE, any window I have open, on the very top, right, - + x item, it is so tiny I can hardly navigate properly with the mouse, I have changed every other preference to my liking but not that. Looks like it is a b...
