Installed font not appearing...

Using LM v19.1 Mate and LibreOffice v6.0.7.3 Downloaded the font Brushcript Regular and installed it in /usr/share/fonts/truetype. Launched LibreOffice and opened Writer document and found that Brushscript Regular was not included in the Font menu. Rebooted the computer. Navigated to /usr/share/font...

Re: Applications for first time Mint user-PIM with reminders

Have a look at Osmo. You can install it from Package Manager (Synaptic). It is very versatile as it includes four modules: Calendar, Tasks, Contact, Notes. I use all of them and find it invaluable.

By Preszi I guess you are referring to a presentation program. Am I correct? If so, have you tried opening it with LibreOffice Impress? It is installed by default.

I don't think I can help you from my experience but as I'd never heard of MOK before I did a little research and came up with

https://firmware.intel.com/blog/using-m ... suse-linux, which may lead you to something of help.

Re: Would a launcher like DASH be welcomed?

As I use LM19.1 Mate this probably doesn't apply to me. However, here are my comments, for what they are worth. I have tried all the current docks (launchers) to give me a visible representation of programs and, although I feel they have their purpose, they are just not for me. - invariably too muc...

Re: Headphone -v- earbuds...

@portreve If I'm actually trying to appreciate the audio I'm listening to, for whatever reason, I prefer standard headphones. I presently use a Sony MDR-ZX110NC headset which has active noise cancellation and they sound pretty good. I'm not an audiophile, and while I like music¹, I'm not so into it ...

Headphone -v- earbuds... (SOLVED)

Using Linux Mint v19.1 Mate My ancient headphones haver finally failed and I've been considering whether to replace them with another set of headphones or change over to earbuds. Re: Removing tons of fonts !

Using Linux Mint v19.1 Mate I have also removed many, many fonts and every time I do so on a new Installation I ask myself the questions "Why can't the fonts installed be dependant on the Location?" If my location is one in which the narive language is, say, English, why are the Asian and African fo...

Re: Foss financial/budgeting software recommendations?

Using LinuxMint v19.1 Mate. I have used both GnuCash and KMyMoney and prefer the latter because it saves details of Payees and also allows me to choose start and finish dates for a Trial Balance. Apart from those two preferences, I think that either would suit your purpose. GnuCash is often recommen...
