Re: Mint won't boot after installation

When the installation finished I got "The 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' package failed to install into /target/" so it won't be able to boot anyway. Any ideas? I'm ok with going without partitions, but it's so nice to have them. :) You have to understand the difference between installing in Leg...

Re: Mint won't boot after installation

When I reinstalled it clean without partitions, there was no problems at all. It started as it should. Then I tried again to do partitions and it won't boot. That is because you are installing in Legacy mode to a GPT partitioned hard drive. As it happens, I wrote a tutorial on how to do that. :arro...

Re: Mint won't boot after installation

I have to correct myself. BIOS can see my hard drive, but it's not an option for bootable devices. When I reinstalled it clean without partitions, there was no problems at all. It started as it should. Then I tried again to do partitions and it won't boot. This is a case where we need a boot-info re...

Re: Kids can't use computers

Got to admit I'm among those who knows nothing about computers. I know how to use it but that's about it. Once or twice a week I play some pc-game and then have to load windows, because I'm too stupid to make it work on my LM. When I use the terminal I'm on dangerous ground, because I have no...

Re: Save "Home" with installation

Thank you everyone. It worked like a charm! Without knowing why I removed those hidden gnome and mate files/folders like suggested. At the installation (something else) I used the partitions I had, one for / and one for /home. The one for /home I didn't format. Then I just installed it and ev...

Re: Save "Home" with installation

I just found out the other day on a test install that KDE calls this option "Manual", whereas all other Mints call it "Something Else". ("Manual" makes more sense to me. Don't know why the others use "Something Else".) because if you don't do it right, you mo...

Re: Word (through WIne) won't save to my mapped share

I'm sorry I can't help you, but I would recommend you turn to the experts at playonlinux and/or wineHQ, since it looks like it's more related to one of the two and not the OS.

Good Luck!

PS. Have you tried and open the docs in something like google docs? Maybe that'll work better?

[SOLVED] Change default Calendar or settings

Please help me get week numbers in my calendar. I just installed LM Cinnamon 18.1 on my laptop and noticed the calendar/clock is different from my pc's with LM MATE 18.0 in that it lacks week numbers. Is there a way to change some settings to add week numbers, or if not, is it possible to i...

Re: Save "Home" with installation

At first and in any case: Backup your user data. If your user data can get preserved during install depends, if you have placed your home on a separate partition. In case you should have the automatic method to install Mint, this is not the case. I've got Home on a separate partition so this will b...

[SOLVED] Save "Home" with installation

Heya, I'm still quite new to Linux and have used my first Linux OS, LM MATE 18.0 for a year now and love it. Which probably should keep me from installing a new Os... Anyway, I've got this idea where I'd like to try LM KDE 18.1 since it looked kind of nice. Anything I should keep in mind whe...
