Re: HELP!!

I finally gave up and I find it one of the rather disappointing things about Linux. If I can't fix something as stupid as a disk error, then what does that say for regular users who have no tech skills?? I am chalking it up to EXT4 and went back to EXT3 with a clean install. I can only imagine the h...

Firefox 3.5 fixes

I have found 2 bugs with Firefox 3.5 and it looks like they aren't going to fix them before release. 1. the url bar drop down text is unreadable. To fix install the addon stylish and then install this style: http://userstyles.org/styles/13324 2. fullscreen flash crashes the browser. This will happen...

GUI DISK TOOLS!!!

Linux basically blows when it comes to gui disk tools. We have gparted and that is great but there are some badly needed tools: 1. Disk Layout Analyser This tool would give you a layout of how your drives are connected to your motherboard and what drive is controlling the boot record and if there ar...

HELP!!

I went to boot this morning and I can't boot. The system does a disk check and does the first round of 5 checks and then restarts and keeps doing that. If I bypass the check I can't boot into my OS as the GDM is down for whatever reason. I used Recovery CD which isn't really that great but it's test...

Big Bugs

BUGS 1. Partition manager won't come up, it just grinds and grinds. I got around this by mounting my NTFS drives and preventing them from being unmounted during install. This bug is an Ubuntu bug, I believe with Vista formated hard drives. 2. The system will randomly lock up forcing me to reboot. Th...

BEWARE KDE4!!!

I installed KDE4 and was able to log in and check it out. First problem right off the bat was that it icons were missing because it didn't have permission to modify files in order to display them. So I went back into regular gnome on mint. Things were fine and I was even running some KDE4 apps when ...

Need help adding new Keybindings.

Is there anyway to replace the current gnome keybinding system? It totally sucks. For starters it only has a few things you can keybind. Second there is no way to add new keybindings. Third I can't switch a default app to another app. So I can't make a different filemanager my default one. Is there ...

How to install Linux Mint in Wubi

I talked with the guys on the forums. They gave instruction on how to do the install until the people at Mint Linux are able to get their distro add to the project. Also remember this is still beta, so backup before you try! Instructions: 1. to provide a metalink file pointing to the alternate iso 2...

How do you create a shortcut key to System Monitor?

When I got to the short cut keys there are like 10 applications that I can create short cuts to, but what about the rest of the system?

Thanks

Start Menu doesn't stay on top of applications! /SOLVED/

I am running Linux Mint 3.0

The start menu is very fickle and often opens behind applications. Is there any setting to make it so that it always appears on top of all applications?

Thanks

Chris
