Re: What about an app that "remembers" what software you had

I think for people who have a lot of additional software packages aside from the standard ones, it might be useful to be able to automize the installation of their additional software after a new install. Read section " Step 3: Our package selections " ... it's all there. Out of the box. You just h...

Re: General question about personal software settings

If I install a new version of Mint that includes a major upgrade of a software, will it usually get along well with the old ".nameofsoftware" directory in my home folder? Usually yes ... but only if you created a separate /home partition ... or else you will lose all your settings when you reinstall.

DUDE! THIS is what I've been saying about Ubuntu! Sooo buggy, and yet's it's been released! Boggles the mind... I still disagree as far as "Feisty" (7.04) is concerned .. that was and still is a fine release. But 7.10 "Gutsy" ... oh man. Yeah. As far as "Gutsy" is concerned your comments turn out t...

Re: Streaming Video

Very well, not that I can see why it is necessary to know the streaming webs sites Troubleshooting. Or how else could one analyse the problem? in order to compare the differences in codecs between SAM Linux and Mint First of all: I don't have that "SAM" distro. So how am I supposed to compare it th...

Just copy the folder ".mozilla" (please note the dot on the beginning) to the new location. All your Firefox settings are in there, incl. your bookmarks.html file in which all your bookmarks are stored.

Re: Streaming Video

Well, how do I determine what codecs are in SAM that are not in Mint? Well ... it would help if you could tell us what streaming videos you were talking about, on which web site they could be found, and so on. Then I could tell you why they're not playing and how you might go about fixing this ... ...

Those 'certain videos' probably need 'certain' codecs in order to be played correctly? Install those codecs and everything should play fine.

I mean for saying Gutsy would be a great Vista rival and then even the load bar dosn't work is kinda sad. Exactly :? ... And as for being a "Vista rival": It isn't that hard to get compiz-fusion working on Ubuntu 7.04 (and probably the current Mint release too? ... haven't tried yet). It looks awes...

Exactly. Gutsy is very buggy at the moment. There is no need to rush here ... or Mint will be just as buggy. :(
