Re: When will realtek release more Linux audio drivers? They haven't since 2014...

They likely don't have anything newer on their webpage because most of their audio devices are supported in the kernel Sorry for taking so long to reply, but the point is that I tested audio on the same 2016 laptop with Windows and Linux. The sound quality on Windows was much better with realtek dr...

Any thinkpad users here? I have a 2008 Thinkpad T500 and it still runs Linux Mint very well.

Pic of Laptop - https://i.imgur.com/X3mLch2.jpg I especially like the Thinklight, which is enabled in the pic, and the Trackpoint. I also like the durable carbon fiber case and solid keys. The laptop still boots up really fast, even faster than my Linux OEM laptop, and does not freeze at all, which ...

System76 calls Linux Mint "Mint Linux" the only time they mention another distro that isn't Ubuntu. LOL

Can't be making this up! http://support.system76.com/articles/de ... vironment/
Cinnamon is used in Mint Linux by default. Cinnamon strives to provide a traditional experience and is a fork of GNOME 3.

Linux Mint - Dark Green Edition - First Draft

Basically a greener version of the Linux Mint theme. I thought something like this would have existed already. I would like to eventually add this to the Cinnamon themes database.

Re: Include Pre-installed Voice assistant software for Linux Mint

I vote against- 1. Privacy. Those assistants you mention connect to a server to do the voice recognition (and probably more). I don't want Mint sharing that data or having those connections by default. 2. The state of open source voice recognition is not great. 3. Bloat. I see where you stand on th...

Include Pre-installed Voice assistant software for Linux Mint

Microsoft has Cortana, Apple has Siri, Android has Assistant. Now it's our turn.

Don't just focus on functionality, also include easter eggs like making it sing songs on command.

Glad to be, and thank you. I was running from Gnome on Ubuntu, but now I am running Cinnamon.

Re: I used Ubuntu linux since I was 13 years old, but just switched to Linux Mint - cinnamon desktop.

Welcome to the Linux Mint forums :) How did you first hear about Linux / Ubuntu and start to use it? Thank you! I heard about it from reading a Time magazine article on Linux. I couldn't install it on my computer, so I got a pretty old 90's computer and installed it on there. Over time, I bought a ...

Add visually accessible settings to change the color/transparency of panel, menu, and window titles

Windows 10 can do it, as seen here: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-chang ... indows-10/. You don't see it in the screenshot, but now they include window titles.

Additionally, I would want to access this option by right-clicking the taskbar and clicking "panel settings"

I used Ubuntu linux since I was 13 years old, but just switched to Linux Mint - cinnamon desktop.

My favorite part so far is that it feels like a professionally designed desktop. The artwork is really beautiful and detailed, and for now, the software seems to be running really smoothly. The graphics are very detailed, and the configuration software seems to be very intuitive. Overall, I'm sure t...
