Re: LibreOffice not opening documents

Hi, Thanks for your reply :) In another Forum someone posted this Fix and it worked for me  Solution: A quick Google shows me that this error is most often associated with a specific config file .libreoffice/3/user/basic/dialog.xlc and resolved by removing it. To be on the safe side, lets remo...

Re: ecardwizard Greeting Card Program?

Hi Sam, good luck with your hunting :) I came across a post that said you can legally download by bit torrent Win98 because MS no longer sell or support it, even provided a generic Product Key Thought I would give it a go and then see if i can run it via Virtualbox, well I managed to get Virualbox r...

Re: ecardwizard Greeting Card Program?

OK, went ahead and bought a copy of MS Greetings 99 on eBay

Will see if I can get it to work under Wine and if that fails, try to find a copy of Win 98 to load on a spare PC

Re: ecardwizard Greeting Card Program?

Thanks for the Link Sam, they don't all sell outside the USA though, also checked out eBay and a couple there as well (more pricey) but if I go this route I will also need to purchase WIN 98 (Stopped working after that edition of Windows, wow it is very dated now and yet no comparable program ever r...

Re: ecardwizard Greeting Card Program?

Hi Sam, thanks for your helpful posts on this issue Greetings 99 came as a separate purchased program, not as part of Office (that's why I was so annoyed when changes in the Windows OS stopped it working!) Couple of years ago I was unsuccessful at getting it to run under Wine and now I no longer hav...

Re: ecardwizard Greeting Card Program?

Thanks for your response Sam, yeah I am amazed nobody has produced a Linux Greeting Card program that is simple/easy to use, my wife loved Microsoft's "Greeting 99" with it's very easy to use UI and templates and was very disappointed when Windows upgrades stopped this program from working :( I have...

Re: ecardwizard Greeting Card Program?

Yeah the "Linux" link takes you straight to a "Buy Now" page, that's why I didn't go any further, just no information about a Linux version :? I emailed the Company (3 days ago) but have not had any reply as yet :( If I do get a positive response and proceed to purchase I will provide feedback on ho...

Re: ecardwizard Greeting Card Program?

Thanks Oscar799 much appreciated :D

I'll hang off for a while to see if there is anyone who has used this program and will try to email the company to confirm if it is a .deb package

At least if it is a .deb package it seems a nice and easy way to install it :)

Re: Installing Mint11 version of Evolution into Mint9?

Thanks again for replying to my post, yes that does seem like an easy enough way to copy Thunderbird, makes me wonder why that haven't automated it within Thunderbird as a one click backup option! Still, I am quite used to and happy with Evolution and if it is possible and doesn't cause a conflict, ...

Re: Installing Mint11 version of Evolution into Mint9?

Thank you for your reply :) I uploaded Evolution via software manager in Mint9 and got the older version, how can you stipulate a newer version? Would it be compatible with Mint9? Quite some time ago I used Thunderbird and it became corrupted and deleting it & reinstalling it did not overcome the co...

Installing Mint11 version of Evolution into Mint9?

Hi, I tried Mint11, but now back to Mint9 (had freezing & go slow issues) In the process I lost a lot of emails & setting because the saved Evolution file under Mint11, would not work under Mint9 (earlier Evolution version) Can I upgrade & install the latest version of Evolution (in Mint11) to Mint9...

Hi ell02, thanks very much for your recommendations, much appreciated :) Funnily enough when I opened Write to make the changes you suggested, I found it opened quickly, so tried a few more documents and they all opened quickly  Don't know why it should have changed as I haven't made any syst...

Re: Mint9 Not saving Desktop changes?

Thanks Dawgdoc, I followed your link backwards to find this post by Zumbruk (9/6/10) : I've worked around it by adding the following to my ~/.bashrcgconftool-2 --set /apps/nautilus/desktop-metadata/directory/icon_view_keep_aligned --type string "false" Now I'm a bit of a newbie, so not sure if there...

Open Office Write Files very slow to boot [Solved]

Hi,

Just did a Fresh upgrade to Mint9 and have sorted out a few small problems thanks to Google & Forums, but Open Office Write files are now very slow to boot/open, much slower than in Mint7 :(

Any ideas why this is the case or if there is a fix?

Thanks
