Re: I'd like Linux Mint to ask me what to do when battery gets critically low

Funny. According to the topic I linked to in the first post here, it worked with "Shutdown". I'll run a few tests tomorrow, but it occurred to me to think that I instead should work on expanding Cinnamon power management applet so that it also have options to notify when battery is low and again no...

Re: I'd like Linux Mint to ask me what to do when battery gets critically low

My battery just reached its critically low point and the laptop went into hibernate mode even though I had the setting set to "Ask me what to do". So, from what I can tell, it doesn't matter what you put into that /usr/share/cinnamon/cinnamon-settings/modules/cs_power.py file, the laptop will hibern...

Call me a purist if you like.
No worries, everyone will have a different opinion. I was just stating that I would be willing to pay the entire cost of upgrading out of my own pocket if the upgrade is ever an option.

Re: obsolete files

You shouldn't need to clean much, except maybe, as Pjotr mentioned, old kernels. I try not to touch much of anything outside my $HOME directory. I've been using Mint for years and I've never run out of space due to system files.

Plans to switch to Xenforo? I'll pay.

I have been a moderator on other forums and recently two of those forums switched to Xenforo forums platform. I was wondering.. I would be willing to pay the full price for the Xenforo license if the Linux Mint team would be willing to switch these forums over. Would the Linux Mint team be willing t...

Re: I'd like Linux Mint to ask me what to do when battery gets critically low

Yeah, I will try. I was just wondering if anyone had already done the same. We'll see :D I hadn't done this until I saw your thread. So, thank you for posting your question. I always wondered why there was no option to Shutdown Immediately. I am on battery power right now, so I'll see what happens....

Re: I'd like Linux Mint to ask me what to do when battery gets critically low

mmm... that's exactly how it appears in the options for the power button POWER_BUTTON_OPTIONS = [ ("blank", _("Lock the screen")), ("suspend", _("Suspend")), ("shutdown", _("Shutdown immediately")), ("hibernate", _("Hibernate")), ("interactive", _("Ask what to do")), ("nothing", _("Do nothing")) ] ...

Re: I'd like Linux Mint to ask me what to do when battery gets critically low

It happens to me to overlook that my laptop battery depletes. When I was running Kubuntu I got used to notifications but I still have to set them on my new Linux Mint laptop. But I've seen there's a Power Management option - "What to do when battery is critically low", choices are "Hibernate" or "D...

You're welcome. I don't know why that happens, but you've probably not seen the last of that issue. The good new is that next time you'll be ready :D

Re: Nemo sidebar shortcuts

Mine ended up like that at one point. I fixed it by dragging the ones out of "Bookmarks" and dropping them into the "My Computer" area. See if drag & drop works for you.

Thank you! I dislike flat themes, there is no "life" to them, so I created something that has a little bit of personality to it. I'm glad you like it :D

New Revian Cinnamon theme

I have released a new set of themes for Cinnamon, GTK2/3 and Metacity. The Cinnamon and Metacity themes are custom designs by me. The GTK2/3 themes are modifications of the default Mint-X-Blue theme. the reason I didn't design full GTK2/3 themes from scratch is that the Mint-X-Blue theme is beautifu...

Hi All Perhaps before this goes to far, I must qualify a few areas of my comment. Yes - Linux is easy to use ! From the very first paragraph (and para.4/5 and last) the vain throughout is: Linux falls over at the very first step as it is very difficult to install. As I said - "Loaded once by accide...

Re: Linux is secure…right?

I just read the articles at those three links in the OP. Did you notice what was at the bottom of the second article? That's right, an advertisement for Trend Micro's Deep Security computer software. Yet another company spreading fear in an effort to justify the existence of their products.

Re: Linux is secure…right?

I've been using Linux since 2001 and I've never seen a computer virus. Over the years I have sat in IRC channels and support forums for various distros and have never heard from anyone who has actually seen a computer virus. I'm beginning to think that computer viruses are a myth that are used by an...

Re: Linux is secure…right?

Would be curious to know--does anyone here know anyone who ever got a virus with Linux? 6 years now and have never had a problem. I had viruses with Windows, father in law had a ton of Windows viruses. Everyone knows someone with Windows who had viruses--usually more than one (person and more than ...

Hi This is going to upset a few but needs saying; make it easier! Make something that folk can plug in and go. No messing about creating this and converting that and putting in some gobbldy gook here and alter there. I'm still struggling after a year, on and off. Even bought 4 versions on CD to get...

Re: Don't believe everything that you read

.. there are no current Linux malwares that I am aware of. And do you know why that is? Because it's a waste of time to devote resources toward writing malware that specifically targets a system that is designed to be as secure as possible and maintained by people who can't help but learn about sys...
