Re: Because of the Facebook data scandal, should Linux Mint delete its Facebook page?
Mint's security doesn't have anything in common with Facebook's scandal. In that regard I really can't understand your question! You are free to use or not Facebook. If you are concern that Mint facebook page will be used for data collection about mint developers or Mint OS itself... well don't.

Re: Linux Mint Freezes on high memory usage
You don't have any free space left on the swap partition which means that you have ran out of memory (despite the fact that linux indicates that only 24GB of RAM is used) and swap space. ID-3: swap-1 size: 34.05GB used: 0.00GB (0%) Hello? ID-3: swap-1 size: 34.05GB used: 0.00GB (0%) fs: swap dev: /...

Re: Linux Mint Freezes on high memory usage
Well... format the swap partition without encryption and try again. Your system info returns that the swap partition is full, so it can't use it.

You don't have any free space left on the swap partition which means that you have ran out of memory (despite the fact that linux indicates that only 24GB of RAM is used) and swap space. This leads the system to freeze. Still your problem can be due to other reason taking consideration of the explan...

Re: Understanding the directory structure of linux?
I was able to avoid all of this just by downloading WP for Linux.deb at the WP website. Downloaded, saved to download folder, clicked it (Linux.deb) and it installed. again, thank you. And the WP Linux desktop app works! It was that easy. Over at the Linux Mint group on Fb is where the help came fr...

Re: Understanding the directory structure of linux?
You need first to know how to install software under Ubuntu based linux distribution: https://www.howtogeek.com/191245/beginn ... -on-linux/
And after that to dig deeper and to learn the linux file system: https://www.tldp.org/LDP/intro-linux/ht ... 03_01.html

The team that develop Linux Mint should be proud. We could be happy, thankful and/or like MintBean said - enthusiastic.

Re: Updates that requre restart
Thanks for the tips. I was thinking more about the possibility some updates that are known to require restart to be marked somehow. Well, I'm going to restart the system whether there are level 3, 4 and 5 updates, but for sure there are users that will not do that just because they don't know that t...

Re: Cannot get sound on my TV with Mint
It does not work with things but with drivers, which are in the kernel. By updating the kernel you have obtained newer drivers for the video.

Updates that require restart
I noted that none of the updates indicate that they require restart in order to be applied. For example updates of the kernel. The new kernel is not loaded until restart. There are several other updates, mostly level 4 and 5 for which I usually wonder if they require restart. My question is - is it ...

Re: I want to use my touchscreen
The only distribution I found which is touch-screen friendly out of the box is Fedora Workstation with Gnome. It has live image so you can try it to see if it will fit your needs better.

Re: How to Turn Your PlayStation 3 Into a Linux PC
This was possible with the first PS3 Fat only, and with the first firmware when they came out in 2009 (if I remember correct). It is no longer possible with the newer firmwares.

Well, if it is open source, the license agreement sounds strange:

This does not work with the version from the repository, but upgrading to version 5.2.4 from the virtualbox's site works... at least for me.catweazel wrote:It's best to reinstall virtualbox.

I added it from the Tools -> Add-ons menu in Thunderbird. Just search for Lightning in the extensions tab.
