Re: Linux Mint 7 x64 RC1 released!

And thanks a lot, back at Mint after a short Ubuntu64 adventure :) Real nice to be on the two forums though. All answers for Ubuntu also work in Mint vice versa. Great work!

Re: How to Upgrade to openoffice 3.1 in LinuxMint7 Gloria

I was helped by Exploder with these files, big thanks. He told me that the files are now on the forum, somewhere. I don't know where though :)

Re: x64 mint 7

Clem himself stated that the work from 32 to 64bit was not that difficult, so why not bring it our earlier? I found the patch from 6 to 7 idiotic. First 64 and after that maybe the 6 to 7 path is much more logical, considering the fact that loads of people have 64bit processors nowadays.

Re: x64 mint 7

All nice and clear, dear emorrp but can you then explain how the Sabayon guys for instance can come up with a swift 64 bit version of their Linux? I really think that their team is even smaller....

Re: x64 mint 7

The 64bit version takes so long that Ubuntu 9.10 is almost at the corner to arrive. The 64 bit version should come out at the same time as the 32bit version. Just like what Ubuntu does. I love Mint, but I now use 9.04 Ubuntu 64bit because I then get my full 4gig of ram and a faster system in a lot o...

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 released!

Sounds like a bad burn to me, possibly a corrupted iso. Since the official release is ready , try to download that and give it a go, remember to burn at low speed. It's kind of amazing that the release version of the stable 7 is already since May 20 on all known mirrors. I have checked this. So why...

Re: Why Linux? I say yes, and then what?

Your last claim might be true, but MInt in my humble opinion is not in the 80's. It's very close to what Microsoft wants with Win7, or in any case: better than Vista Ultimate, and that costed about 550 dollars and came out least than two years ago.... So Mint is... uh...2007?

Re: Why Linux? I say yes, and then what?

Linux has at the moment already 1.x percent of the market. So there is already a dent :) And Linux Mint is one of the few that can already harm Microsoft's Windows, if that's the intention (which I doubt).

Re: Why do you use Mint?

Open Office can be set to save files as Word files... And OO can read all formats that Windows has or can read. So I don't see your 'problem'.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread

I have two PC's here, and one of them is doing the same, the other isn't...so it seems to be hardware related somehow.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread

Mint 7's MPlayer seems to be an old version. SM player complains in any case that it is. I can't find a newer one (or don't understand it...). But everytime I start SMplayer I get the message that I use an outdated MPlayer. Maybe someone can help?

**SOLVED** Thunderbird lightning problem

I installed Mint yesterday and copied the Thunderbird dir from my previous Ubuntu 9.04 home to the home dir of Mint. I had lightning installed in Ubuntu and that now conflicts somehow with Mint. Thunderbird starts and then comes up with a message stating that a newer version of Lightning is installe...

Re: Inactive user names will be pruned

Well, I registered myself today and hope to be not pruned if I don't write anything from now on :) I mostly find solutions on the Ubuntu forum or here without asking... Maybe that should be taken into consideration?
