Re: Cinnamon 19 32 boots into fallback every time

Cinnamon requires 3D capable, newer graphics hardware. Mint's MATE or Xfce editions do not.

Yes, it would be best to download either the Mint MATE or Xfce edition, burn it to disk, and go from there. :)

Re: cannot use my spare drive

If you want one big partition on that drive, use that Disks program to delete the partitions, once complete, create a new 2 Tb partition.

Re: cannot use my spare drive

I see it here . . it's not a 1 but a 2 Tb drive by the looks of it. Drives: HDD Total Size: 2275.5GB (3.0% used) ID-1: /dev/sda model: Crucial_CT275MX3 size: 275.1GB ID-2: /dev/sdb model: HGST_HUS724020AL size: 2000.4GB Remember in Gparted, to switch drives use the drop down list in the upper right.

Re: Screen Crash at seemingly random times?

If you have browsed through the active topics in the forums, you will see that the 4.15 series linux kernel is causing quite a few members to pull out their hair in frustration. I don't know if it is the cause of your problems. I'm not on Mint 19, so I don't know what other series of kernels...

Re: Fresh install, blank screen after login

Please read the Linux Mint 19 Release Notes. There is a special section called "Solving freezes during the boot sequence" that may be the answer to what you are experiencing.

Re: Installing LinuxMint Xfce starting from a basic Ubuntu installation

Just install mint-meta-xfce . . do NOT install the xubuntu desktop, as that will overwrite what mint-meta-xfce has already installed.

Re: Mint 19 XFCE - Regularly freezing and requiring hard reset.

It may just be the 4.15 series linux kernel that is causing this. I have read in these forums quite a few problems with it. Mint 18.3 comes with an earlier kernel, which may work better for you. I'm not on Mint 19 so I do not know which kernels are available. (Mint Update Manager > View > Linux Kern...

Re: Problem downloading repository index - Megasync

You will need to change the repository information in the Software Sources program. If you don't understand what they are saying, delete their repository in the Software Sources program, go to the repository website, and re-add their repository with the new information provided.

Re: update warnings

They are from the repositories (PPAs) that you have added to Mint. You may want to check their websites/forums.

The google earth error - they don't make 32 bit (i386) anymore.

Re: Program Not Working on Linux Mint 18

Just a guess here.

GvR most likely does not like the newer versions of Python that are in Mint 18.

Looking at their sourceforge website it hasn't been updated since 2010.

Re: Xfce - mouse pointer drag / select issues

Brianl , just for your information. When you chose xfwm4 + Compton, it automatically disables the Window Manager Tweaks program, as that program is exclusively for xfwm4 compositing. But Compton is now the Compositing Manager so when you say : I have disabled compositing ... That is not really true,...

Oh . . I've never seen 396.xx settings with 340.xx drivers before. Are you sure there isn't a graphical Nvidia Settings in the menu? Reading that last bit states the actions to take when in the Nvidia Settings GUI? sudo nvidia-settings After you've configured your settings, click on X Server Display...
