Re: OpenVPN brocken

I updated from 17 to 18 but as far as the terminal is concerned, i'm hopeless, doesn't help reading characters back to front. I believe this is the information you need, looks like the OpenVPN is out of date so I'll start with that. Just one query, Is it possible to install the latest openvpn on 17....

Re: OpenVPN brocken

i would still change the kernel to something that is supported such as the latest 4.4 series kernel which is LTS or the latest in the 4.13 HWE kernel series...cant hurt to give this a try, but you do need to be in a supported kernel series.. Damien Wonder why support didn't look at that, would an u...

Re: PureVPN Money Back

While the installation for PureVPN was a nightmare and even after taking over my computer for two hours. They did honour their refund so in that respect for my experience I have to give them 10/10. As a foot note I signed up with PrivateVPN and although the installation wasn't for Mint, and differen...

Re: PureVPN Money Back

Got a reply saying that there should be no problem with a refund but could I give it another go. Since I'm hopeless with the terminal, I thought why not, So I allowed the assistant took over my desktop, what the hell he's an expert and I may have made a silly mistake in the hours that I failed. Two ...

PureVPN Money Back

Question, has anyone managed to get a refund from PureVPN? After around four hours of trying to install from the manager, which they say that it supports. I decided enough was enough and ask for a refund under their three day money back guarantee. The response from them was for me to download the pa...

Remove vpn SOLVED

What's the safest way to remove IPVanish? I was going to remove each vpn link in the network Connections and then delete the folder containing the .ovpn files. After that install the new vpn but that doesn't seem right. I've looked for the answer for this, but have just found instructions on how to ...

I'll use Gparted and a single partition NTFS format to be safe and see what happens.

Re: SOLVED-I would love to go back to Linux right now.

Thanks, I'm not sure what options to choose that will make Mint see the 1TB drive. I'm just guessing that by formatting the drive it may solve the problem and Linux will see the drive. Reading and trying to figure it out has just made it more confusing [only have one grey cell left]. One topic goes ...

Re: SOLVED-I would love to go back to Linux right now [SOLVED].

Sorry have the serial number listed in the terminal read-out, should have said manufacture date. CCL won't help as they only support Window and they say "it's a Linux issue, try to install windows and see if that works, if it doesn't then it's the drive". The Drive is listed in the bios, computer an...

Re: SOLVED-I would love to go back to Linux right now.

This is a Seagate drive that is 6 years old at least. It's during a time when high failure rates on 1-4TB drives were occurring with Seagate drives. It's a new system from CCL computers with no documentation about the drive. Seems odd that a company is installing drives that are six or more years o...

Re: SOLVED-I would love to go back to Linux right now.

I'm unable to use my 1TB drive to place file and folder into to save the space on my smaller main drive, When trying to open the drive a box opens to say 'Unable to mount location - Can't mount file'. Didn't know it the Disks application could fix this problem. System-Product-Name ~ $ sudo lsblk -o ...

Re: SOLVED-I would love to go back to Linux right now.

Question, Could I use the Disks utility to mount the second drive. When looking in the utility it has all the drives details, model, size, serial No and assessment. After opening the cog wheel icon below the Volumes box and clicking on format partition would it be wise to leave the first two options...

Re: SOLVED-I would love to go back to Linux right now.

I'm half way there. trying to install 18.2 idea didn't work although I checked the boot and fast start. I managed to use the shortcut keys to take a snapshot of my window, the result showed what looked like two pages, one showing the left half with icons the other page looked like the right have wit...

Re: SOLVED-I would love to go back to Linux right now.

No it's not the same problem, it loaded, previous problem was to get past the secure boot. This is a screw-up on my part by failing to take out the usb [no warning given to remove media so I didn't remove usd and the install isn't correct. going to try installing 8.2, the computer may not bypass the...

Re: Mint 18.3 Locked out unable to install

Don't think so but i will give it another try. Question, would burning 8.2 and trying to install 8.2 work, or would the computer just load into 8.3? Thinking along the lines of maybe a different mint may clean it up and boot afresh. Here's the result; https//gist.github.com/dcd53d82339ee932de92e2b44...
