Where to buy

After two days of trying to bypass the secure boot on the HP that I purchased, I gave up and sent it back. Yes I disabled the secure boot and changed the boot order, more than once, used five os and and just to make sure two different USB sticks. With Microsoft's change of policy and their ability t...

Re: Mint 18.3 Locked out unable to install

Thanks for the reply, I don’t wish to duel boot, just evict Windows. I’m sure the problem is with the way Microsoft & HP have set-up the UEFI and secure boot. Going to try and talk to HP and see what they can come up with. Never had any issues installing Mint 18 on my ASUS which ran Win 8 and 10, bu...

I would love to go back to Linux right now.

HP Pavilion Desktop570 running Windows 10 Home won't allow Mint 18.3 to install. I changed the settings in the BIOS/UEFI including the secure boot but it still doesn’t load. Alos tried five iso’s and two usb sticks. It appears that ‘FAST START’ is still bypassing the USB and it also appears that Mic...

Re: Buying desktop

Thanks for the GOOD advice, Unfortunately building my own is not an option for me. Putting in a new hard drive was a major task. I haven't looked at Aria before now, so thanks for the link. Gaming isn't a must, just after something that will be value for money that lasts more than a year per £100 sp...

Re: Buying desktop

I need a new desktop computer to replace my ASUS, but I'm finding it hard to find a reliable review of any of the few companies that supply them. Also noticed the some of the companies are offering the same model PC with lower specifications than the Windows version that doesn't seem to relate to th...

Re: TuxPaint - Solved

Karl Worked fine on the desktop but on the laptop at first it opened into a square box in the middle of the screen leaving black areas on the both sides. When Tuxpaint was closed it shrank the whole screen to that size. Messing about with the config app trying varies screen sizes I managed to stop i...

[SOLVED] TuxPaint

I’ve dumped Windows and installed Mint 8.2 Cinnamon onto my desktop, and Mint Mate onto an old laptop. On Windows I had TuxPaint running fine, unfortunately TuxPaint won’t maximise screen on both machines. Settings from terminal; “Tux Paint Version 0.9.22 (2015-01-15) Usage: tuxpaint {--usage | --he...
