Re: netflix on linuxmint 19 and above

In Firefox, for some reason, "Never Remember History" was selected. Selecting "Remember History" and now Netflix works.

Re: Updating gnutls28 fails

If you have a problem along this line with a broken package the first thing to try is, as root;
dpkg --configure -a

Re: netflix on linuxmint 19 and above

Firefox 72.0.1 x64 logs-on to Netflix, but when I start to play a movie, I get the good-ole Error Code: F7701-1003. DRM is enabled.
Widevine module is activated.
Still no-go.
That's why I use Chrome & Opera for Netflix.
Thanks for the info.

Re: netflix on linuxmint 19 and above

Google Chrome and Opera both work with Netflix in LM 19.3. Not sure about Vivaldi (I deleted it after it started freezing like Chrome and Opera), but Firefox, Chromium, and SlimJet do not work with Netflix, even with a user-agent switcher (at least not for me, yet).

Re: Libre Office crashed

I use FoxitSoftware's FoxitReader for pdf files (View only, not edit). It's much better for me.
https://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf-reader/

For editing pdf files, I use MasterPFDEditor in the Software Manager.

Re: Fingerprint GUI working for login and sudo only

I installed the software for the fingerprint gui on one of my Dell laptops, and it locked up the unit. Could not log-in. My log-in password would not work. There was no fingerprint interface. Had to boot with a liveUSB then do a Timeshift Restore to a previous backup to delete the fingerprint gui so...

Re: printing PDF in color, how to?

Maybe your printer is set to print only Black & White.
Open settings and check it.

Also check the print settings in xpdf.

Re: Initramfs #3 this week

Try this at the initramfs error:
fsck /dev/sdaX

* (replaxe "X" with the # for your HDD/SSD)

Re: printing PDF in color, how to?

I use Foxit PDF Reader on all my Linux rigs; prints in color. Free.
https://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/#Foxit-Reader/
Select OS, then select 32/64-bit.

I also use Foxit Phantom PDF Reader/Editor (retail) which works fine, also.

Re: Does Linux Mint Cinnamon v19.2 64bit support laptops with touch screens?

I installed LM Cinnamon 19.2 x64 on a Toshiba Satellite C55T-C5300 and the touchscreen works fine. Just upgraded to LM Cinnamon 19.3 x64 and still works fine.

Re: Initramfs #3 this week

Usually an Initramfs error at boot suggests corrupted data/files on the HDD/SSD (or similar).
Rarely that happens on my rigs, but when it does, I run the following, which fixes the problem:

fsck -f -V /dev/sdaX
or:
fsck /dev/sdaX

* (replaxe "X" with the # for your HDD/SSD)

Then reboot.

Re: What programs/drivers to get bluetooth working

I have 4 Broadcom cards with WiFi & Bluetooth. None of them work with Bluetooth, WiFi works fine. (I've taped the recommended pins on them and still no Bluetooth).
So, I replaced all Broadcom cards with Intel cards (WiFi & Bluetooth) and they work fine.

Maybe this will help.
Since v2.1, GIMP has DDS installed.
Maybe you could adjust settings in the DDS plugin.

Problems may occur using the nouveau driver. If your PC has an nvidia card, use the nvidia driver.
Hope this helps.

Re: Linux Mint get slow suddenly

You could use an app to clean Linux, such as Ubuntu Cleaner, available in Software Manager (works for me).
Never use BleachBit.
Use any cleaner with a bit of caution.
