Re: Pidgin takes forever to sign in

It's a problem with the MSN protocol specifically. All the other protocols work great. I have the same trouble with Emesene. It just won't log into the network. At least Pidgin does. Anyway, I'm using aMSN right now; works great.

Thanks for trying. :)

Re: Klipper & the Gnome menu bar

Well that doesn't really help, since I have to do that every time my computer starts. What I'm wondering is if there's a way to access some config files or something to change it permanently. I'll look at your link though.

Pidgin takes forever to sign in

Why does Pidgin take so long to sign into the MSN network? Empathy takes about half as long, but it's so watered down... I'd rather use Pidgin or another, better alternative.

[Addendum]

Is it because of the WLM protocol upgrade?

Re: Klipper & the Gnome menu bar

You're right, Klipper is from KDE. But it also works in gnome if you install the KDE libs along with it via Synaptic or any other package manager. Sorry for not being more clear. You can forget about the Gnome panel problem. I don't care about that any more. But I'd still like some ideas on how to g...

Installing Ruby

I want to start programming in Ruby. Nothing web-based, I just want to learn how the language works.

I tried installing Ruby once, but it didn't seem to work. Is there something extra I have to do other than just using apt-get?

Is KDE slower?

Is the KDE version of Mint any slower than the standard edition? It could be that my distro is slightly less up-to-date, but it seems to work harder at things that Gnome seems to breeze through; I also get far more annoying errors. Is it something inherent in KDE, in Mint KDE, or is it just because ...

Klipper & the Gnome menu bar

I'm wondering how to access whatever file it is that controls Klipper's start-up properties. Actions are enabled by default at every start-up and I want to make it so they're disabled instead. I'm also wondering how I might be able to remove the icon next to Applications in the Menu Bar for Gnome pa...

Re: Alternate Virtualbox download URL?

I'm trying to download the .deb file manually from the website. Sorry for not making that clear.

Do you think it would work better if I added that link to my repositories?

Re: Breathe and Humanity Icons for Mint

I think you're going to have to be more specific. I'm not sure what you're suggesting.

You might get a better response in the art forums.

Re: Very low sound at max volume...

Try looking at the various volumes under the mixer. The easiest way to access it is by clicking Volume control under the little speaker icon in your taskbar.

Turn all of them all the way up and see what that does. Make sure you check each device available.

Hope you figure it out,

Tim

Alternate Virtualbox download URL?

Is there another download location for the Jaunty version of Virtualbox other than the official ones? I've always had trouble with the servers timing out on me.

Thanks,

Re: LAMP?

Creepy.

DataMan,

I followed the steps set out on your website. What do I do now? Copy my "PhP" files to /var/www? Just a point in the right direction will be all I'll need.

Thanks,

Tim

Re: Page capture

I looked extensively for an Opera widget and couldn't find one. The software.informer link doesn't seem to have anything relevant to what I'm looking for, either. What I want this for, is for making image "previews" of web pages I create. I need a way of saving the whole page in my browser as an ima...
