DNSCrypt-proxy-2

I'm having trouble finding a clearly laid-out how to for this. Every set of instructions has brought me to a point where what I see in front of me makes no sense. For example, one site tells me to see what might be listening on port 53, and uninstall whatever it is - in my case it's "dnsmasq" and I ...

Tech help not directly about Linux

I'm asking for help locating something on the Intel site. I've just spent 2 hours looking for the BIOS recovery files for my DH77DD m'board and am having no luck. The box used to run Linux, but it got shorted out and the only hope id to do a BIOS recovery. Does anybody here have any ideas about this?

Re: best partitioning schema to dual boot 2-3 linux distros

Some stuff I've read suggests that multiple distros could share /boot This is not clear to me in the installation procedure. Given this partition table, how would this work? Do I need a separate /boot partition first? Disk /dev/sdb: 1.8 TiB, 2000398934016 bytes, 3907029168 sectors Units: sectors of ...

Re: best partitioning schema to dual boot 2-3 linux distros

What I would do is to use a gpt partition table which enables multiple partitions. (over 100) no extended partition needed. I have a 2 TB disk; I want to partition it for 2 distros, with /home (or 2 /homes as it doesn't need to be shared because I've read that might cause issues?) and a shared data...

best partitioning schema to dual boot 2-3 linux distros

The question is: if I want to boot multiple linux distros on one HDD, how do I set up the partitioning? Do I start with an Extended partition? I know we're allowed 4 primary partitions, but gParted on the Mint LiveUSB is only letting me create Primaries. How do I create logicals? If I want 2 or 3 di...

Invisible icon in panel for kdocker

I've been happily using Alltray now for a long while, but for some reason it won't minimize Chrome. (I don't know if it ever did, actually) So I found Kdocker, which has no problem with it. Good Stuuf. Except, when I add Kdocker to the panel, it has no icon. I just click on the open part of the pane...

[SOLVED] program Tabs missing from panel

New install Mint 18.2 Mate

The tabs in the panel for each running program or applet are gone; I have no idea what's running if it's minimized.

This also happened in a new install of Ubuntu mate 16.04.

Is this a Mate failure?

Can it be fixed?

Refresh Desktop

I absolutely cannot find a simple answer to this -

how do I repaint or refresh (or whatever you call it) the desktop?

I have a nasty app whose notifications freeze on the screen - how do I get rid of them without rebooting?

Running Mate 18.2 new install
