[Solved] Duplicate desktop folder (Cinnamon)

My fault, fat finger and sensitive touchpad problem, I managed to drag & drop my desktop folder from Home into my Templates folder. I copied it back to Home, but couldn't delete the copy under Templates (even with elevated priviledges). So now I have two desktop folders. The system still works fine ...

Similar problems here with FF and the telegraph. That website on Chrome also makes my Galaxy Tab S slow to a crawl.

Re: When did you come to Linux?

Ubuntu (Dapper Drake) in about 1997. It wasn't a happy marriage on my laptop, big trouble getting the WIFI to work, and lots other glitches. Went back to Windows (I liked Win 7). Moved to Mint a couple of years ago (disliked Win10 intensely) and love it. I still have a dual boot on this laptop and w...

Re: Downloading photos from camera

For some strange reason, my Mint (18.3 Cinnamon) won't connect to my Nikon J5 unless the J5 is switched on and in view photos (playback) mode *before* plugging in the USB cable (at both ends). On the other hand, I can plug in my D5300 and then turn it on, and Mint finds it immediately (this doesn't ...

Re: Turning off bluetooth shuts down wireless as well

Unread postby orschiro » Tue Jan 16, 2018 2:51 pm I use the bluetooth icon in the panel. When I switch it to the off position, it disables both the bluetooth and wireless connections. This sounds like a bug to me then. I would report it upstream. You are using Cinnamon right? https://github.com/lin...

Re: Turning off bluetooth shuts down wireless as well

To turn off Bluetooth: Menu -> Preferences -> Bluetooth It might be a coincidence but I think I had the same problem with Bluetooth turning off Wifi. Certainly something did and it wasn't me. I had trouble reconnecting: a reboot didn't help but the https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=2...

Re: Is Flatpak supposed to take up so much storage space ?

I looked at the plusses and minuses soon after installing mint 18.3, and got rid of flatpak https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject (thanks again Pjotr). Main reasons being: Limited space on my SSD (dual boot). I want that for photos. Installing updates without notifying...very Micro$oft....

Re: [Not Solved] The “Meltdown” bug is hitting Intel

It's going to be interesting to see what this mess will do to the retail computer market for a while. I can't see anyone who has any knowledge of it buying new in the near future unless to replace something that dies. I've been thinking about buying a replacement for an aged home server, but I think...

Re: LibraOffice Writer - how the heck to get it to do what I want (text boxes)?

I'll risk it... On the menu, Insert>>Text box. Drag anywhere to draw the box and immediately start typing (or as you noticed it will vanish). Click the box border and the menu bar changes so you can select some formatting options. Right click in the box for other formatting options. Whatever LibreOf...

Re: How does Flatpack work? I'm confused.

Thanks for asking this, I was wondering what it was about. As a noob, I have't yet been able to find a human readable explanation, so have (hopefully) avoided it so far.

So, in simple terms, what is it? Is it a Good Thing? Does Mr Torvalds like it ;-) ?
