Re: Will Mint 19 have support for Ryzen 2200G/2400G

I do not have a separate graphics card to test with. For now I have an expensive box on the shelf, should have gone with team blue instead. I'm not trying to make you feel really stupid or anything, but did you do your research before your brought your motherboard? Due to you buying a A320 board it...

Re: Will Mint 19 have support for Ryzen 2200G/2400G

I would have went with a B350 chipset motherboard as they are better supported. To be honest I wonder if waiting for B450 mainboards will be worthwhile.

I am referring to the X11 Nouveau driver which supports any resolution. As for Coffee Lake (8th generation Linux) has been supported by Intel since the fall of 2017.
Yes but I'm wondering if the iGPU or driver themselves supports that resolution.

Re: Video card resolution failure in LM 19 with Intel 8th generation CPU

I'm guessing that the Coffee Lake iGPU or the driver doesn't support that resolution.

You might want to rethink teaching both basic programming and Linux in the same "class". However I wouldn't be surprise if some of the teens are already running Linux.

Re: Nerdy types dismissing Linux Mint.

I don't care who dislikes Mint...nerds or not. I've tried the rest and now I run the best...Mint Cinnamon. :D Some don't know a good thing when they see it...as for Mint being a Linux Distro for Newbies...if that were true then why do so many Newbies have so much trouble. :) Mostly likely due to Li...

Re: Will Mint 19 have support for Ryzen 2200G/2400G

Well then I should have asked which kernel will be the default in Mint 19 instead. While I'm not using Mint now, the reason I'm asking is that folks do ask me about computers and Linux every so often. Mint is my go to distro for folks completely new to Linux as I don't think it is a good idea to spr...

Will Mint 19 have support for Ryzen 2200G/2400G?

I'm just wondering if Mint 19 will have support OOTB for the Ryzen 2200G and 2400G APUs. How is support doing currently?

Re: Cashless Society is getting closer

Any businesses that only accept cash I suspect of being scammers, tax dodging frauds, money laundering criminals, or about to go out of business because why else would they not purchase or rent a pay terminal? There is really a huge amount of places in Austria where the debit or credit card is not ...

Re: Buy Computer with Linux Mint installed

I recommend you consider a slightly different option - assemble your own. Anyone who has replaced an optical drive, added memory, or swapped out a power supply knows the inside of a desktop case is not scary. Start with a case that allows your hands to move around, I like the mid tower atx size. Se...

And what's more, people do develop these 'small' OS'es for other people like me. They put lots of work and energy in it. I admire these guys a lot..! If you say : I really don't see the point of trying to do something with old hardware with such low end specs , well, It's a slap in their faces if y...

Other then "just to see if I can run Linux on this thing and find a use for it", I really don't see the point of trying to do something with old hardware with such low end specs.

However to each their own.

Re: Why Linux Mint?

Mint is also for people who just want a working system without having to fiddle around after installation. Nonsense. If that were true then these forums wouldn't be full of posts asking for assistance. Agreed, anyone who thinks any Linux distro "just works" knows absolutely nothing about Linux. I'v...
