Formatting them would be faster, in your situation using the two drives make a snapshot once a month. First month on one drive second month on the second drive. On your third month format the first month drive ext4 and use it.

The way you are proposing will mount it under root.

Hi Haveamint What Kernal did you change to? Just in case I get a problem myself I went to the 5.3 series and it seemed to work fine but I ended up going to 4.15 since I never had problems with it. My AMD system froze up on the fresh install of 19.3 xfce, I changed kernels and it is running fine.
