Re: TRIM and my SSD

That is the contents of fstrim located in /etc/cron.weekly/fstrim.
It is in cron.weekly because I want it to run weekly. If one wanted it to run daily, hourly or monthly then that file needs to be in the corresponding folder.

The output is like below. *** Thu, 09 May 2019 00:26:27 -0500 *** /...

Minecraft 1.14 Pre release 4 as of this post

Both client and server side seem to be running very smooth. I am liking the new stuff added. Only two of us on the server but room for more.

Re: Running LOTRO??

Does ANYONE know of a way to run Lord of the Rings Online on LM?? I was thinking of installing VirtualBox, then running Winders in it, but that seems like making the pc do a lot of work when I could just install Winders and run from there. Just looking for ideas before jumping in. Thank you, Bobby ...

Mint Insanity.
So you wait until the last second to do your taxes and do a system change and call it "Mint insanity"? When you point your finger at Mint remember that three fingers are pointing back at you.

Re: Spring clean your computer

I am fortunate to have an air compressor in the garage to use when blowing out the PC. Keep in mind to find a way to hold the fan blades from spinning 100k rpms as they are not designed to run that fast. I cleaned a neighbors computer once and didn't wear a face mask, I won't do that again. There wa...

Re: updates - April 2, 2019 - not working

Can not get updates applied to Linux Mint 19.1 today April 2, 2019, everything else seems to be working fine, i.e. email, access to Internet - is there something wrong with Linux Mint servers ? Thanks. Never mind, just tried it again and this time all worked just fine as a matter of fact the kernel...

My step-dad accidentally bumped his laptop and it fell.
I don't see where anyone suggested that if the machine was running when it fell there is a chance it may have trashed the drive.

Wow I have never had to repeat but a few times. I am at a loss on your situation. There is a bit of a learning curve on Linux, hang in there it really is a fine OS.

Re: New to Mint 19.1 Tessa

Thank you Tomgin5. I will likely wait a couple of days to see if anything else emerges before I risk doing more harm than good. If all else fails, I just might try to reinstall Linux 19.1. If I decide to do that, and I believe that a MATE version would be best for me, do you have any advice for a n...

Re: New to Mint 19.1 Tessa

Thanks, but as I wrote in the last post, that IS what I did. Clicked on "Office Writer" and "add to panel" but what shows up on the panel is a group of three icons, which are in a dark panel of their own, and clicking on any or all of them does nothing. The exact same thing happens with anything th...

Re: Hidden Folders and Browser Upload File Dialog Browsers

I have some hidden folders (e.g. /.Current Materials_USE THESE/) that I might need to select a file from. I have Nemo set to show hidden files. Browsers don't respect that setting and thus if I try to navigate to a hidden folder, there is not way to navigate to it. I just get the folder tree on the...
