Re: Bootloader Problems On New SSD HD With ONLY LM19

He said he pulled the windows hard drive out and put an ssd in its place. I think.
You can follow this tutorial and leave out the /media/username/backup partition but follow the rest.

Re: Bootloader Problems On New SSD HD With ONLY LM19

Is your bios set to legacy or uefi? If it set to uefi change it to legacy and it should boot, if you prefer uefi then you will need to make some changes.

Re: Bootloader Problems On New SSD HD With ONLY LM19

If you only wish for two partitions I would re-install and set one partition ext4 as / giving it 30GB and the second partition as ext4 /home giving it the rest of the drive.

Re: Reasons against Timeshift for backing up home directory

+1 all41.
I have timeshift set to manual and do one from one to two week intervals and also use grsync for home. Grsync is very versatile and can be used in any way you wish to set it up. It takes a bit to get a finger on it but works nice.

Re: Installing Mint but UEFI problems?

I don't know if it relevant to this case but when I removed my DVD drive in my laptop and installed my SSD the bios refused to see it as anything but a DVD drive. I had to put the boot loader on the original (other) hard drive but was ok installing to the ssd.

Mac Users

A good friend I know loves the Mac and twice now has had her Safari hijacked by yahoo search. Has anyone had this and what did you do to solve it? I suggested to use her other Laptop with Mint on it and that maybe remove mac OS and put Mint on it, I couldn't out run her and got beat up.

Tutorial on a UEFI Mint 19.x Install (Not for dual Boot)

Assuming you have set your bios setting correct for UEFI and you booted the Live Mint in UEFI mode this is one of many ways to setup a UEFI install of Mint. In this first image you have successfully booted into the live Mint Installation. This tutorial is for wiping a drive and installing Mint only ...

Re: Thunderbird sharing on dual boot Linux systems

Long time since I used Tbird, now use evolution. When I was dual booting with win7 I had a shared data partition (ntfs). Tbird in win and Tbird in mint both pointed at the same mail folder which I put on the shared partition. Worked flawlessly. I was using POP3 at the time, don't know if it will wo...

Re: What kernel is in 19.2 ?

I don't know if it has anything to do with the problem but my laptop had issues with kernel panic on 18.2 and .3 . I had a iommu issue and had to set it to off , once I got it all installed I went to a different kernel all was good. The 19's had no problem on the laptop.

Re: What would you do if....

I just repaired my AMD 6core (Bad Mainboard) added more ram and made it my server. I built this below but had the video card and hard drives already for less than $600. I guess I could not tell the truth on the cost and pocket the rest of the money ;-) System: Host: main Kernel: 4.15.0-55-generic x8...

Re: need help with creating partitions

If you go legacy you only need / (root) and /home (home). The /boot was old old school and not needed any more.
