Re: State of the art

I had to start at the beginning of this conversation to find out what was going on. I clicked on the last reply from the main page with it reading state of the art and then saw a conversation about slavery. I was confused but I'm OK now lol.

Re: Saving TimeShift to a USB Drive

I plan to keep 5 boot and 5 daily snapshots if that helps. So far in my VM, the average for my daily snapshots is 372,000-400,000 file that has changed. I was thinking around 32-64 GB. Where is the timeshift folder again? I'm guessing it's one of the hidden folders, but in which folder, the /Home o...

Timeshift won't work with versions 18 unless you install it yourself. Started being added in versions 19.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install timeshift
Didn't timeshift begin with 18.3?

What puzzles me is if you are so happy and love Ubuntu then why are you looking at a different distro? You are the only one that can sell yourself on anything period.

Re: Timeshift - how many snapshots to keep?

Thanks for this Timeshift discussion. I wonder if I could get some clarification on the above - how do you get into the snapshot file and just copy the file you need? Not sure I understand, and in trying to do that, I can't find any file within a snapshot that I could copy - most of the folders are...

I haven't had any compatibility problems with this hardware and is pretty quick with Mint XFCE.Excluding the actual life span of the hardware (Long time I hope) the speed of this setup should last many years. Is there any way to upgrade Linux Mint without Timeshift? May be bash script?
Thanks.
Just go through the timeshift setup and set it to manual and then never worry about it again.

Re: Seeing hard drive contents

If one wants to see drive letters for their partitions I don't see why it can't be setup that way. When your setting up the system you will have / and /home but if one wants to see drive letters after the necessary / & /home just create more partitions and call them D,E,F ect. If it is a multi drive...

One is still on 18.3, two are on 19.2. 19.2 is rock solid and look identical to my 18.3
