Re: Setting Up Plex Media Server on Linux Mint

looks correct to me however my suggestion of adding the user to that group is probably the error since there may not be a user called plex. Please understand I am guessing at this.

Re: Setting Up Plex Media Server on Linux Mint

Sounds like a permission issue to me. What happens if you set it to chmod -R plex:plex /folderstructure

Re: Setting Up Plex Media Server on Linux Mint

That was my best shot at guessing, you have the folders setup under plex as the group and I wonder if the user you are using "houston" is a member of the plex group.
Oh wait you saying plex can't see the sub folders or houston can't see them? Apparently i'm confusing myself.

Re: <SOLVED> I am new to SSD drives...need guidance

Code: Select all

/: 1.8 GiB (1896017920 bytes) trimmed
I thought that meant that 1.8g was all that was trimmed and not free space left on the drive.

Re: This computer has 0 bytes left?

Following the good advice given to you and also I would move timeshift off of the SSD and onto an external drive. I only take a snapshot once a month or so manually. The total updates in a months time doesn't take much time to repeat in the event of disaster.

Re: Clock disappears from panel

I'm running Linux Mint 19.1 on XFCE. Software Manager reports everything is up to date. I believe I'm using the latest kernel, 4.18.0-13. I prefer the AM/PM style clock in the panel. (Is that the correct name for the bar at the bottom?) I right-click it and choose Properties, then select the option...

Re: Use discarded laptop camera for low cost security

I use virtual box and windows along with something like ISpy or in my case at home the same vbox setup with the cctv-dvr system I have. Works for me.

Re: keyboard backlight timeout Dell laptop

Hi folks, On my Dell laptop, the timeout for the backlight of the keyboard is set to 1 minute (timed it). I've checked online on how to change this setting via a command such as : sudo bash -c 'echo "600s" > /sys/class/leds/dell\:\:kbd_backlight/stop_timeout' However whether I "sudo" the command or...

I tried the sudo chmod -r USER:USER ~/.vmware but that did not work for me, however the three steps above solved the problem.

Next time use -R and not -r.

Re: Can I install to a SSD?

The way you are saying it is confusing the heck out of me; I assume you mean installing the ssd on a computer and using the vbox/VMware loading an ISO image and using that to install onto another drive? If that is what you mean then it seems to me to be the hardest way one could use to install a sys...
